Qanvast: Out of all the interior designers you met, why did you decide to engage AD. I. WRKS?

Drono (D): When we met Teck Soon, he was not pushy (I know what pushy is like, since I'm also doing sales). He was more than willing to sit with us for two to three sessions to understand our needs, even before we decided to engage him.

He also brought us to see a home that he had renovated and that really gave us the confidence in the quality of his work.

Roshmita (R): Widya and Teck Soon were very cooperative and accommodating.

Both of us are working, so time was definitely a constraint. We had to meet around 9 or 10pm, and ended our meetings around 1am in the morning.

Qanvast: What were some requirements you had?

D: We needed lots and lots of storage. I have a lot of books that I need kept away so the place can look neat and tidy. A lot of time was spent thinking about how the cabinets and shelves should be done up.

Because we wanted to do a lot of carpentry, it helped that the home Teck Soon brought us to visit had the kind of carpentry we wanted.

As for the design, we didn’t want something too modern, but something more cosy and warm. So that means lots of wood, which makes our home feel a lot more welcoming.

Teck Soon and Widya even helped us to get accessories and other decor items, and would advise us on what would go well with the interior – so their post-renovation services were very good as well.

Qanvast: Were there any hiccups along the way?

D: There were some miscalculations for one of the cabinets. But that was quickly rectified by Widya who redid her calculations to ensure that it was perfect. Of course, this was made right before any execution so it was fine. There were no major issues with the renovation.

R: Whenever there were any minor hiccups – which is expected – they resolved it within the week.

Qanvast: What advice would you give homeowners looking to renovate?

D: I think budget-wise, homeowners need to do their research so they know how much they need to apportion – not forgetting that furniture also takes up a significant amount.
