What you need to level up your home entertainment experience

A good movie night at home begins with having the home electronics in your living room, bedroom and/or entertainment room. So, probably one of the first things that you should get (beside a comfortable sofa for your home cinema) is of course a suitable TV.

To get the best viewing quality for 1080p video resolution TV shows and movies, you'll at least need a Full HD TV. And don't forget to equip your home theatre setup with a DVD player, or better yet, a Blu-Ray player that'll let you enjoy cinema quality visuals in the comfort of your home.

Last but not least, don't forget audio electronics like soundbars and speakers for the ultimate surround sound experience which will turn every movie night and gaming session into an unforgettable time!

Finding the right TV for your home entertainment setup

With so many options and features available like LED/OLED and 4K Ultra High Definition (HD) support, deciding on the right TV to get for your home can get downright confusing (more so if you're unfamiliar with the technical jargon). So, what are your options?

First, you might wish to consider getting a smart TV. Much like a smartphone, smart TVs are capable of connecting to the Internet through Wi-Fi and can grant you quick and easy access to streaming services and websites, including YouTube, Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Next, a TV with 4K Ultra HD resolution (or at least HD 1080p) should ideally be on your radar. Put simply, resolution is the quantity of pixels that make a displayed image on your TV, so the higher its resolution, the sharper your TV shows, movies and games will be on-screen.

There are also 8K TVs and High Dynamic Range (HDR) 4K TVs that offer even higher resolution as well as better colour, but 4K UHD TVs from brands, such as Samsung and LG, should be sufficient for futureproofing at this point.

Soundbars VS home theatre systems

For the uninitiated, soundbars and home theatre systems probably don't seem all that different. Aren't they both audio electronics that enhance the overall sound quality of your TV? Well, you couldn't be more wrong if you think that's the case.

While soundbars, such as those from SONOS and Samsung, are indeed powerful and affordable upgrades to your 4K TV's built-in speakers, their surround sound capabilities are limited when compared to a proper home theatre system. This is because home theatre systems are comprised of a full range of dedicated audio speakers, including subwoofers, amplifiers, and full-range speakers, which can make you feel like you're in a movie scene or video game!
