Soaring ceilings, elevated style.

No architectural element adds drama quite like a double-height ceiling. As its name suggests, it’s twice as high as regular ceilings creating a spacious feel. For some, double-height interiors are the pinnacle of elegance, evoking luxury and grandeur.

If your house is blessed with this type of architecture, here are some ways you can take advantage of these open and airy interiors to create amazing spaces that maximise natural light, add depth, and elevate the overall aesthetic.

This living room feels bright and airy thanks to the double-height ceiling and large window panel that create a feel of sitting in a hotel lounge. Blaine Robert Design installed floor-to-ceiling motorised drapes to cover the windows, allowing the homeowner to control the amount of light that enters the room.

Located in Shah Alam, this 5300 sqft bungalow has been tastefully renovated as a tranquil sanctuary home with earthy tones. The common area is graced by a luxurious double-volume stone effect feature wall, embellished with wood paneling, that serves as the centerpiece and adds depth and character to the space.

8. A unique A-shaped living room in TTDI

What truly makes this living room stand out is its distinctive A-shaped ceiling, which not only adds height but also introduces a dramatic architectural element that enhances the overall sense of space. The tall ceiling’s peak draws the eye upward, making the room feel more expansive and giving it a unique character that sets it apart from typical flat-ceiling designs. It also helps to visually demarcate the living room from the adjacent dining area, creating a subtle division between the two spaces without the need for a physical wall.
