From home decor to cleaning supplies and kitchen appliances, you can purchase nearly everything you need for your home at Shopee, plus it saves you trips to the store!

But are they truly worth getting? We tested four of Shopee's popular home appliances to find out. The products chosen for this review received four-star or higher ratings, as well as a high number of sales (10 thousand units and above).

So, before you add that vacuum cleaner or air fryer into your shopping cart, you might want to read on.

This is not a sponsored article. The products were independently researched and tested and the prices listed are correct at the time of publication

1. Yilizomana Air Fryer | From RM79.90 | 4.9 star rating | 116.3k units sold

If you want a healthier alternative to deep-frying your food, an air fryer is an excellent cooking appliance you should have in your kitchen. Available in 3.2L, 4.5L and 5.5L we purchased and tested the 3.2L unit, which in our opinion is decent enough to cook a single portion meal. The 3.2L model is also the most basic variant, with only one control knob that lets you set the timer for up to 30 minutes of cooking time.

Our frozen chicken nuggets took less than 5 minutes to cook and the result is a crunchy, golden finish that’s similar to deep frying in cooking oil.

We also tried to cook broccoli with the air fryer. Unfortunately, because the air fryer does not have temperature control, the broccoli was cooked unevenly.

Cleaning the air fryer was also a piece of cake. The nonstick pan makes it easy to clean with dishwashing soap and water, eliminating the need for scrubbing.

Qanvast's Verdict

The Yilizomana Air Fryer hits the sweet spot of great performance at a reasonable price. However, if you really want to get the best cooking results, we'd recommend getting the 5.5L variant with temperature control.

What We Like

  • Heats up immediately
  • Easy to clean
  • Lightweight (3kg) and compact design (28cmX21cm)
  • It comes with a 2-year warranty

What We Don't Like

  • No temperature control button

2. Yilizomana Mini Blender | From RM14.50 | 4.9 star rating | 12.7k units sold

This wireless garlic chopper is available in 100ml, 150ml, 250ml, and 300ml and depending on what you intend to use it for, our 100ml test unit is large enough to fit a clove of garlic.

We were pleasantly surprised to find that this tool produced very finely chopped garlic! When compared to cutting garlic by hand, this method is also less messy. We also like the product's compact design, which makes it easy to store in a kitchen drawer or cupboard.

One of the main drawbacks is that it does not have a secure lock, so you must secure the tool with your hand while operating it to avoid food splatter. Furthermore, because the blades aren't attached to the cup, you'll have to be extra cautious when using it to avoid injury.

Qanvast’s verdict

If your cooking calls for a lot of chopped onions, nuts, chillis or garlic, you need this tool in your life. It's a serious game changer. Smelly hands from chopping onions will be a thing of the past!

What We Like

  • Excellent slicing performance
  • Very easy to use and clean
  • Compact and portable

What We Don't Like

  • No secure lock
  • The blade is not attached to the cup
  • Not covered by a warranty

3. KONKA Portable Handheld Garment Steam Ironing | From RM79.00 | 4.9 star rating | 47.5k units sold

The KONKA Portable Handheld Garment Steam Iron is a reliable steamer with a slew of convenient features. When plugged into an electrical outlet, the steamer generates high-pressure steam in less than two minutes and you can either press a button to produce steam or use the automatic mode, which will continuously release steam.

We tested this product on a variety of wrinkled fabrics, including satin, linen, and cotton, and were extremely pleased with the results, particularly on softer fabrics like cotton. However, if you want to achieve similar results on more difficult-to-iron fabrics, such as linen, you will need to exert more effort.

One of the main disadvantages of this steamer is that it can become tiring to hold after a while. And, because the water capacity is only 250ml, you'll need to refill the appliance every 4-5 pieces of clothing you iron.

Qanvast’s Verdict

Given its compact build and effectiveness, this garment steamer is a must-have item for your home! Plus, it's also very convenient for travelling.

What We Like

  • Produces powerful steam
  • Lightweight (1.02kg) and compact design
  • It comes with a 1-year warranty

What We Don't Like

  • It's tiring to hold after a long period of use
  • Water needs to be replenished frequently

4. PerySmith Handheld Vacuum Cleaner Xtreme Series X10 | From RM119.99 | 4.9 star rating | 93.3k units sold

Weighing only 1kg, the PerySmith vacuum cleaner is very light making it an excellent choice for vacuuming around the house. We tested the vacuum on an array of substances, including coffee beans, tea leaves, and milk powder, and the powerful suction easily picked up and cleaned these messes. The vacuum cleaner is also a great option in cleaning carpets, sofas or narrow surfaces, thanks to the accompanying 4-way brush tool.

One disadvantage is that with a dust capacity of 0.8L, you'll need to empty the cup frequently, especially if you're vacuuming a large area. The vacuum cleaner also tends to overheat after more than 15 minutes of continuous use.

Qanvast’s verdict

If you’re looking for a lightweight vacuum cleaner for an apartment or small space, this is your machine!

What We Like

  • Produces powerful suction
  • Lightweight (1.0kg)
  • It comes with a 2-year warranty.

What We Don't Like

  • The machine overheats when used for an extended period of time
  • Small dust cup (0.8L)
