Look past the cheery palette; it’s sleepless nights and months of planning that went behind this home design. To Raymond, one of the bosses of Free Space Intent, the interior designer was stumped when it comes to designing his second home.
The design challenge - mixing pastels colours, retro elements, and geometry and yet maintaining the cosy look and practicality was no easy feat. Following the theme of ‘organised chaos’, much thought was given to balance out between functionality and the various design elements, and adding his stamp of identity.
According to Raymond, a smaller area size is a welcome change as this means shorter cleaning time and cosier spaces!
Living Room
Feature walls galore in every corner - from colours to figurines to geometric tiles, there’s always a feature that pops.
The toughest part of designing his home was how to and where to introduce colours, and he managed to pull off using carpentry, decorative tile accents and paint. The trick to harmonise them is to find the balance in interior styling such as when there’s a mess, the eclectic palette does not stick out like an eyesore.
The motifs on the wall were inspired by an origami design.
Dining / Balcony
He loves the combination of wood, greenery and colours and implemented in his balcony. Connecting the indoors with the outdoors, it's a tranquil spot to dine and bond with the family. Needless to say, it's the family's favourite spot at home.
Master Bedroom
Given its tight space, many storage spaces were added into this tiny room - from the bed frame to the dresser. He had to make sure there were enough compartments for his partner’s nitty gritty items.
