Whether it’s a weekend staycation or a two-week holiday across Europe, Singaporeans are almost always looking forward to their next getaway at any given point.
But here’s the thing: you don’t actually need to check into a hotel stay just to feel a sense of respite. The following homes were either inspired by – or bear an uncanny resemblance – to actual hotels around the world, bringing the hotel experience to their owners every single day!
Having enjoyed their stay there so much, homeowner Jianhong and his wife decided they wanted their XL master suite to bear references to boutique hotel RYSE Autograph, Seoul when it came time for their BTO’s renovation.
While not an exact replica, you’ll definitely notice parallel motifs like the rich blue accents and even a similar headboard.
That’s not the only hotel that inspired their renovation, though. The en suite’s doors were also custom-fabricated to look like the iconic black-framed wire glass panels at The Warehouse Hotel, Singapore, except that fluted glass was used for a greater degree of privacy.

An interior designer’s work is often led by his/her client’s vision. But when it came time for his own renovation, interior designer Jimmy took the opportunity to create a space modelled after a hotel he adores: the world-famous Aman Kyoto.
While the rest of the communal area is filled with light wood tones and peppered with bold black accents for contrast, the reverse becomes true for the dining area. Here, black becomes the canvas while wood tones are used as accents, as is the case with Taka-An restaurant at Aman Kyoto.
But since this is, after all, a family home with young children, Jimmy also commissioned Japanese artists collective Living with Art for a centrepiece painting that’s colourful and fun.

As an avid traveller who says he “tends to let the hotels decide where [he goes]”, homeowner Dean knew from the get-go that he wanted his home to look like a classic hotel with understated luxury.
And while it may not have been designed to look like any hotel in particular, we can’t help but notice the similarities it has with the Magnolia Hotel in Victoria, British Columbia. The main difference? As a bachelor pad, there wasn’t any privacy concern stopping Dean from going with a completely open-concept design to prevent the space from looking too cramped!

Curves and limewash in warm tones are everywhere these days, but not all homes with these features evoke the same sense of escapism that this one at Pinnacle@Duxton does. Specifically, the kind you get when you’re on a Mediterranean island holiday at Mykonos.
And it’s not just the bedroom that imbues a sense of relaxation; even the bathrooms do!
Honestly, we reckon we’d spend all our weekends in if we lived in a home like that.

Few brands become so iconic that people use them to refer to the broader umbrella they fall under. “Maggi” in place of “instant noodles” is one. “MUJI” for “modern minimalist Japanese aesthetic”, is another.
And with Singaporeans loving all things Japanese, we weren’t at all hard-pressed to find an HDB flat that bears that distinctive MUJI aesthetic with warm wood tones, clean lines and all-round good vibes. But at the moment, this one by Starry Homestead captures our hearts.
