How to Plan Your 3-Room HDB Flat’s Layout: 5 Practical Ideas

3. Use bi-fold doors and curtains to segregate spaces

If entertaining is not your style, you could always turn it into a designated “hobby” room. Urban Habitat Design took down walls and replaced them with stunning black bi-fold doors that amplify space, even when closed.

It is then completed with a combination of sheer and opaque curtains that enhances the overall soft and dreamy aesthetic.

4. Say goodbye to shower screens

Here's an unorthodox way to increase the surface area in the bathroom without hacking — lose the shower stalls. Install different tiles or flooring to divide the space up instead, like how this home by Fineline Design contrasted Peranakan tiles against a plain backdrop.

5. Here's a 3-Room Resale Flat Example!

This 3-room layout may be a lot less common now but ELPIS Interior Design still managed to overhaul and give the resale flat a fresh update.

Having hacked down two walls, there's now a 'flow' from the living room all the way to the kitchen area. Then, to streamline things even more, a bar-style peninsula was included. Combined with an overall neutral palette (save for the bedrooms), the home feels airy and spacious.
