Singapore Renovation Trends To Look Out For In 2016

December 18, 2015

This year, the Scandinavian and minimalist has been popular among homeowners. Think sleek, clean lines in a home that is easy to upkeep. Will this trend fade off in the coming year?

We got Design Chapterz and Free Space Intent to share what interiors will be like in 2016.

Interiors we think are here to stay

Scandinavian and industrial will be prevalent in 2016 and in fact they will be here to stay for a while, especially the industrial look. As years go by, the beauty of the rugged industrial style will be brought out.

Being Singaporeans, you won't see only one style in a house; a fusion of various styles will be common.

Mid-century modern look will be popular. People are going back to the old times and like things that bring back a sense of nostalgia. Think pop art, items that exist in the 80’s and 90’s.

While muted neutral tones are classic colours, we can expect to see more colour splashes, more personality and quirky décor.

Rooms in focus

More styling efforts are placed in the living room as it is the room that sets the first impression, and it is the focal point of the decor theme.

Open-kitchen layouts are getting popular. More than just a workspace, a kitchen now has to look good too; homeowners are willing to spend on décor and quality such as kitchen countertops from KompacPlus, and kitchen systems from Blum. Even the backsplash, a once neglected area, are now being jazzed up.
