Woodleigh Glen homeowners, bookmark this!

We know the pain. Sometimes, it’s hard to visualise what your newly-finished BTO flat will look like in the future (both near and far). And especially if you’re a first-time homeowner at a newly-completed HDB estate like Woodleigh Glen, it can be tough to come up with ideas that’ll resonate with your idea of a dream dwelling.

But fear not! We’ve done some of the initial legwork for you by getting three professional interior design firms – The Makers Design Studio, A Blue Cube Design, and The Local Inn.terior – to come up with 3D mock-ups and ideas for your future 2-, 3- or 4-room flat!

1. For 2-room flexi units: A contemporary interior inspired by nature

Featuring colours and textures galore, this nature-infused interior by The Makers Design Studio combines organic elements – such as wood layers and assorted potted greens – to create a gorgeous 3D space that we’d very much love to see in real life.

Meanwhile, trendy decorative features, like reeded glass panels and terrazzo-look surfaces, imbue every corner with style and personality. It’s also here in the mocked-up living room where overhead arches and curvy furnishings play a key role in softening the overall look of a clean-lined space.

Things are much calmer in the bedroom, which is hidden away behind a concealed doorway. Inside, a raised platform with built-in storage options neatly divides the sleeping and dressing areas, while a mint green feature wall amps up the soothing vibe, creating the perfect peaceful space for a good night’s rest.

2. For 3-room units: Classic white-and-wood spaces with a touch of warmth

Say what you like about it, but the fact is that the classic white-and-wood style is here to stay. There’s just something so warm and inviting about it – and this 3D mock-up of a 3-room flat in Woodleigh Glen, done up by A Blue Cube Design, is ample proof that a simple look works just fine (even if the naysayers call it cookie-cutter).

Of particular note in this mock-up is its simple, but effective solution to a compact kitchen that can’t be opened up fully (due to the DB box recess located beside it, as reflected in the floor plan).

Below, their idea of installing a terrazzo-look dining table/breakfast counter in place of a closed-off entrance looks to be a feasible way of opening up and maximising a tight kitchen corridor.

3. For 4-room units: A spacious, well-planned floor plan fit for a minimalist home

Although 4-room units are the largest flat type in the Woodleigh Glen development, they’re a fair bit smaller than the 5-room and 3-Gen units available at their sister development at Woodleigh Hillside.

Nonetheless, it’s possible to make them feel extra-spacious with the right space planning – just take a look at this 3D mock-up and proposed furniture layout by The Local Inn.terior for an example of what’s possible!

Key changes made to HDB’s proposed layout include (but aren’t limited to) merging one of the two junior bedrooms with the master bedroom, and the other with the living area to form a significantly larger communal space that’s perfect for spending personal time and/or entertaining guests.

To complement flowing curves and minimalist fixtures, the overall palette of the mocked-up flat was also kept as plain as possible (without being boring) to put across the message that simplicity is beauty.

For instance, woody hues were only used in select portions of the kitchen and master bedroom to provide contrast to off-white surroundings, which themselves lend well to all the laidback spaces that make up this vision of the ideal Woodleigh Glen 4-room BTO flat.

That said, at the end of the day, what’s considered to be an ideal home is something that only you can decide for yourself. So, what’ll it be? One of these 3D dwellings, or perhaps, an original look of your own? Whichever your choice, let us know if you need help from an interior designer to get your Woodleigh flat renovated!
