Having heard of their friends’ renovation horror stories, Cher and Colin knew that it was essential for them to find a good interior designer who they could have confidence in. Their search led them to the doors of Imagine by SK66 where the couple were able to turn their imagination into reality.

We sat down for a chat with Cher and get her to share about the smooth renovation journey she and her husband had.

Qanvast: What were your criteria when shopping for an interior designer?

Cher (C): Besides looking at price, it was also important for us to find an interior designer who we could communicate well with. We wanted a designer who can deliver what we want and even go the extra mile of value-adding to our ideas.

Qanvast: What was the design brief which you shared with Tammy?

C: I told her that I wanted a simple Scandinavian home with lots of wood elements. I also wanted sufficient storage space so that all my things can be hidden in plain sight.

Qanvast: What made Tammy stand out from the other interior designers that you met?

C: We met about four or five interior design firms and we felt most comfortable with Tammy from Imagine by SK66. Unlike some of the other interior designers whose concerns seemed to lie with getting the project over and done with, Tammy took the time and effort to understand the style that we wanted for our home. Her quotation was also very competitive.

Qanvast: Were there any other reasons why you felt safe in entrusting your home design to Tammy?

C: Yes. Imagine by SK66 has been in the carpentry business for many years so I felt comfortable with letting them work on my home. We also paid a trip to their showroom and we really liked what we saw.

Furthermore, I have a friend who previously engaged Imagine by SK66 and she gave them good reviews so I had confidence that they could get the job done.

Qanvast: Did you have a pleasant experience working with Tammy on the design of your home?

C: Yes. After letting Tammy know what we want, she came up with a few designs which I loved at first sight. Since her designs were more or less what we wanted, we didn’t have to make many changes to her original designs so everything went quite smoothly.

Qanvast: Were there any hiccups during the renovation and how did Tammy handle it?

C: Thankfully, there weren’t any major hiccups. If we saw anything that was not up to standard, we would take a picture of it and send it to Tammy and she would promptly get her workers to come down to rectify the issue.

Qanvast: What is Tammy’s best quality as an interior designer?

C: She makes sure to take care of all the nitty-gritty details. After the completion of the renovation, she emphasised to us that if there’s anything more that she can do, we should not hesitate to let her know and she will definitely follow up on it.

Qanvast: What advice can you share with new homeowners?

C: It is important for homeowners to research so that they can be sure and clear about what they want. This will make communicating with their interior designer much easier. If they do not know what they want, this might result in delays during the discussion process as their interior designer will have to keep making changes to the design along the way.
