Go big or go home.

A typical major home renovation averages between RM150,000 and RM400,000, but these costs no doubt pale in comparison to lavish home renovations that soar into the million-Ringgit range.

If you are looking for some ideas, check out these beautifully styled homes to fuel your design dreams.

PS: A homeowner can still dream, even if they can't afford it, right?

1. An elderly-friendly home in Georgetown, Penang (renovation cost: RM1,000,000)

The renovation of this 3000 sqft landed home in Penang truly exemplifies the value of every ringgit spent. Tailored to suit the needs of a retired elderly couple, the home is thoughtfully designed with forward-thinking principles and sustainable living in mind.

For starters, the entire house is equipped with a centralised home automation system that allows the owners to control various aspects of their home, such as the lighting, the centralised vacuum system, and the air conditioning. This convenience reduces the need for manual tasks and allows the owners to monitor and regulate energy usage more efficiently.

Aside from that, the designer installed an eco-friendly water heat pump to capture and transform hot air into a practical energy source with multifaceted applications. It not only powers the water heating system but also offers hot showers and baths, all without relying on extra electricity. This, in turn, helps to contribute to a greener, more eco-friendly environment.

Meanwhile, the entrance to the wet kitchen features a sensor-activated door with an auto-open function. When homeowners carry groceries, it detects their approach and automatically opens the door without touching it.
