Best thing about it is, you probably never will or need to update it!
Few trends withstand the test of time, yet we can’t seem to say goodbye to white-and-wood looks – and for good reason. See, compact home or not, this classically timeless style is sure to make your rooms seem super spacious.
Plus, depending on your choice of wood grain, tone, stain or accents, you could very well end up changing the whole vibe of your space. Don’t believe us? Here’s some inspiration for you!
1. Telok Blangah Heights | Renovation Costs: $78,000
Comprising floor-to-ceiling fluted panels along with vinyl flooring and wooden furniture in the same shade, this resale HDB flat designed by Key Concept sports a classic white-and-wood look – but with a twist.
Spaces are demarcated with black steel-framed glass doors that add a slight industrial edge, all while allowing light to pass through for a bright and airy feel.
Bonus: the feature wall also doubles as a ‘secret’ door to one of its junior bedrooms!

2. Telok Blangah Heights | Renovation Costs: $55,000
In this open-concept HDB resale flat designed by Versaform, it’s all about subtle tweaks for an elevated white-and-wood aesthetic.
Think stone surfaces in place of plain white walls/tiles, as well as gold/chrome accents for touches of luxury that aren’t too flashy. The result? A space that’s both timeless and classy.

3. Tampines GreenVerge | Renovation Costs: $108,000
Using just one shade of walnut laminates throughout, this 4-room BTO designed by Noble Interior Design proves that simple design choices can lead to great results.
Apart from combining one of the junior bedrooms with the living area to form a larger communal space, we especially love the cabin-like foyer which you’ll notice as soon as you enter:
Further in, you’ll notice the same motif in the kitchen and master bedroom’s en suite, giving the entire apartment a cosy and cohesive look.

4. Delta Avenue | Renovation Costs: $31,000
Adhering loosely to a Scandinavian interior style, this resale HDB flat designed by Interiorist gives off bohemian chic vibes in its mix of patterns, colours and decor pieces.
Notable mentions include:
- Herringbone flooring that makes the living/dining area look larger than it actually is
- A cloud-shaped mirror at the common bathroom’s vanity that was shifted out to the kitchen
- The master bedroom’s door that doubles as a full-length mirror (genius!)

5. Boon Tiong Road
One of the reasons why a white-and-wood aesthetic is so versatile is that it works with virtually any interior style – so much so that each room can have a different style while coming together so nicely.
Case in point: this resale HDB flat designed by Mr Designer Studio, which at first glance looks like your typical Scandinavian-style apartment.
Step into the kitchen and you’ll find a classic farmhouse aesthetic, complete with shaker-style cabinets, subway tiles and chrome fittings.
And for the bathroom, louvered foldable doors that add a little retro charm. See what we mean by versatile?

6. Tampines Avenue 4 | Renovation Costs: $94,000
At just 76 sqm in size, space-maximisation was certainly a priority when Mu Design Studio put together this resale HDB flat’s MUJI-inspired interior.
Clever carpentry ideas to achieve this include a built-in TV console that doubles as a dining bench, as well as a headboard that extends sideways into a study nook and bedside storage unit.
Need we mention how seamless everything looks as a result?
And to ensure that not even a single square inch goes to waste, the bathroom’s door was replaced with a sliding barn door to save on swing space.

7. Telok Blangah Street 31 | Renovation Costs: $85,000
Since Singaporeans can’t seem to get enough of all things Japanese, we just had to feature another Japanese-style home.
What’s particularly interesting about this resale flat designed by Inspire 90s is that one of the junior bedroom’s walls were hacked away to form a library-cum-play-area for the owners’ young ones.
At the same time, a modern take on traditional shoji sliding doors replaced the balcony and en suite doors that came with the flat.
Plus, it even has an onsen-inspired wood-look bathtub! Who says you can’t have it all just because you live in a small home?

8. Marine Drive | Renovation Costs: $90,000
While many of the homes in this list employ the same wood tones throughout (and look stunning, no doubt), this 4-room flat designed by The Local INN.terior keeps things visually interesting with furnishings in varying shades of brown and natural materials from wood to rattan to bamboo.
The private spaces, however, feature a more contemporary hotel-like look as compared to the rustic laid-back vibes you get in the living area – with a constant white-and-wood theme tying them all together oh so nicely.

9. Caspian | Renovation Costs: $127,000
Filled with light wood tones, ivory laminates and curved edges throughout, this condo designed by Urban Home Design certainly has a soft touch to it.
Dreamy aesthetic aside, it’s got some unique but practical storage solutions as well. Some ideas to steal for your own kitchen: a ceiling-hung dish/wine rack above the peninsula, and a floor-to-ceiling (yes, it’s that massive) pull-out drawer.
