Beige, white, neutral – sure, these are your play-safe colours and themes to go for when doing up your house but they can also be uninspiring and dull. Besides, wouldn’t you like a home that represents your personality, which of course, you’re not dull or boring! Here are three reasons why taking the risk will make all the difference.
Don’t Do Boring
You don’t want your home to look like any other home out there so why stick to the usual expected designs and colours? Take some risks and go for colours that you normally don’t see done – orange, yellow or for the slightly less bold, pastel and blue. Not quite ready to make that colour commitment? Opt for wallpapers in different texture or fabric. This way, if you don’t like it anymore, you can just tear and start over.
Go Against The Rules
Kitchens should be in neutral, safe colours – right? Well, not if you want to take a risk! Rules are meant to be broken, and if done correctly, the rewards can be huge. Now back to the kitchen – why not opt for a different idea: Do it all up in dark colours for a masculine, upmarket feel or a pastel shade to go down the retro route. Doing this alone can give your home something to talk about when guests come visiting.
Make It Your Own
Again – your home should be an extension of your personality so take the risk and put in the personal touches that represent you. Love dinosaurs? Opt for framed art on the walls featuring your favourite dino. Avid cyclist? Perhaps you can create a showroom – think glass enclosure, industrial style – to store your bicycles and everything else that goes with it. The rule is that there are none!
