6 Ways to Maximise Your Bedroom Space with a Corner Wardrobe
GIVEAWAY: Don’t miss the chance to walk away with Nest Butler customised wardrobe worth RM4,200! Read below to find out how to participate in the contest!
When you’re planning your dream wardrobe, there’s no escaping the dreaded corner, no matter how much space you have to play with. Corner wardrobes are notorious for being hard to configure due to the odd angles. This can present a unique challenge that is not part of installing a standard wardrobe. However, when done correctly, corner wardrobes are a practical solution for maximising storage space and ensuring that every square footage of your bedroom is fully utilised.
We sought professional advice from a local designer furniture company, Nest Butler, on how to design a corner wardrobe that can maximise every square inch of your bedroom space!
Way #1: Install sliding doors with hanging racks
Installing sliding doors on your corner wardrobe as shown below is a great way to maximise space. It gives your bedroom a much more modern appearance and allows you to see everything at a glance thanks to its large opening. Inside, two levels of hanging rack and a drawer can be added to neatly store clothes and accessories.
Way #2: Install a swing door with shelves
A corner wardrobe can be complicated to design because when two sets of wardrobes are placed together, two adjacent doors will collide when opened, which is bad for the surface of the door handle and the door panel. Installing a swing door that opens outwards as shown below is one of the best ways to prevent this from happening.
As corner wardrobes have more internal space, you can customise this section with shelves to neatly store your folded clothes, towels, linens or shoe boxes, among other things.
Way #3: Install 165-degree door hinges with hanging racks
Installing 165-degree door hinges as shown below is another way to prevent two adjacent doors from colliding when opened. Similar to swing doors, 165-degree door hinges allow you to open your wardrobe without coming into close contact with the other wardrobe doors, which can cause defects with repeated use of the door opening.
If your bedroom has high ceilings, you can personalise the interior of your corner wardrobe by installing two levels of hanging racks. This effectively maximises wardrobe space by doubling hanging storage for your shirts and pants. Meanwhile, the bottom wardrobe can be used to store folded linens, towels, or shoes.
Way #4: Create a doorless wardrobe design
A fully closed wardrobe can make your bedroom appear smaller, so keep it partially or completely open as shown below to add visual depth. To neatly store clothes, shoes, and accessories, you can personalise the interior of your corner wardrobe with shelves and hanging racks.
Way #5: Add a dressing table
A dressing table, as shown below, is a great way to utilize and highlight your bedroom corner. Meanwhile, vanity lights and a large mirror can be used to complete this space. The lady of the house now has more room to display and store her jewellery and makeup!
Way #6: Add a spinning display rack
A spinning display rack system, such as the one shown below, is extremely useful because it provides the most accessible storage in the smallest amount of space. It can also improve your wardrobe's accessibility by allowing you to see all of your shoes thanks to the 360-degree rotating shelf. This display unit can also transform your wardrobe into a boutique!
