Behind Lavo’s Wine-Dine Divine Décor with Design Dept
It’s not easy to have everything you want in one place – good food, great wine and the perfect atmosphere. But LAVO does seem to have it all! Thanks to Design Dept, this prime eatery and wine store has been fashioned into a jazzy delight. Find out what went into designing lovely Lavo.
The Inception of Lavo
Originally dreamed up to take on the role of a four-in-one, F&B super outlet which is now CHAZE (another solid creative feat from Design Dept), Lavo is presently a standalone restaurant and wine retailer.
With an ultra-cool moniker that was inspired by its signature, elongated bar, Lavo (o-v-a-l spelt backwards), was composed to impress diners and wine lovers alike within the confines of a stylish, chic joint.
Design Dept is the team behind Lavo’s interiors, architecture and its calculatingly creative overall design.
The Lavo Mood
Combining the casual pace of a wine bar and the elegance of a refined upscale restaurant, the temperament at Lavo is relaxed and comfortable with a hint of sexy.
The atmosphere in the lounge area especially, will lead its patrons to feel completely at ease with the warm ambience of its sylvan décor and low lighting as well as comfy seating sections.
Generally though, Lavo is young, urbane, cool and perfect for the yuppie (and yuccie) crowd as well as being an alternative design character to Tropicana’s ‘golf and country club’ style.
Design Treats All Around
One can’t help but notice the imposing geometric pillar that flanks it’s largely oval bar – a natural conclusion to Design Dept’s respect for linear structures. The immense beams are balanced by more ‘genteel’ elements in its surroundings.
Chilling out at Lavo is a treat not just for sophisticated palates but one for your eyes as well with visually stimulating light pieces and delicious contemporary-chic décor.
Still, it’s not all artsy formations though, as Lavo keeps some grit alive with exposed steel trunking and piping above and cold grey flooring below; suggestive of an industrial theme in the dining area.
In addition, the wine display inhabits the room as it is craftily built into a herringbone feature wall and almost mimics wavelike movement with narrowing style.
With neutral tones remaining in the background (and with most fixtures), the pop of the playful, coloury furniture and décor becomes remarkably flavoursome as well as complementary when put together.
All in, Design Dept has done a stellar job with the interiors at Lavo, transforming it into a sweet spot for patrons to dine and unwind in style.
