Qanvast: What is the story behind your company name, Giraffe Three?

Giraffe Three is formed by 3 like-minded yet diverse individuals. We want to put across the idea that, while every brown blotch on the giraffe looks seemingly similar, each is actually distinctively different. Hence, when put together, the blotches form a stunning visual pattern. Similarly, the strength of Giraffe Three lies in our combined unique expertise.

Qanvast: Why pick giraffes?

The name “giraffe” has its earliest known origins in the Arabic word ‘Zarafa’, it is also translated as the “fast-walker”. We call ourselves giraffes because we always strive to be at the forefront of the latest trends. Our design philosophy is a harmonisation of modernity and elegance.

Qanvast: What is the unique identity of your company?

Instead of just splashing colours on the walls or creating feature walls, we like to enhance the space according to the purpose it is used for. We want to breathe new life into the homes by optimising their space. So we might give the impression as a bunch of designers who love to knock down their walls!

Qanvast: Where do you get your design inspirations?

To guide us in our design direction, it is always very important to understand the needs of the homeowners. Then, we conduct further research to tailor a design that is most suitable for them.

What is the project that you pride yourself on?

We are very honoured to design a series of stores for Bee Cheng Hiang in Southeast Asia. Bee Cheng Hiang first started out at a mobile cart at Chinatown. Even as it expands its business, it remains committed to deliver the best to their customers. It is a long-standing brand with a rich traditional heritage. So, we tried to imbue this cultural element into the design of the shops to reflect a strong brand image.

Qanvast: What advice would you give to first time homeowners?

There’s no such thing as “free design fee”. Always get a consultant to assist you, be it the design or costing, to receive professional and quality advice.

Qanvast: How do you overcome problems during the renovation process?

It is our responsibility to create the client’s dream home for them. But, sometimes, the reality may not be able to accommodate the dream. We see each problem as a challenge and seek to solve them professionally without compromising on the aesthetics. Hence, we always need to find a balance between the client’s special requirements and the perfect look.
