Taiwan Excellence Unveils Cutting-Edge Innovations at ARCHIDEX 2023

Taiwan Excellence, representing Taiwan's prestigious recognition for top-notch products, is set to join the ARCHIDEX exhibition scheduled from July 26th to July 29th, 2023 at the KL Convention Centre.

Returning with the theme "Green Living", Taiwan Excellence is back with more eco-friendly products and technologies. There will be 10 award-winning brands bringing a wide range of innovative solutions to showcase, from multifunctional convertible film, environment and health-friendly paint, smart sanitary wares, self-controlled dimming windows, and many more.

We managed to interview 2 of the brands that will be showcased, giving our readers a first taste of what the exhibition will have to offer. These innovative solutions include the Jye Li An Touch-Free Sensor Toilet Flusher Kit and the YZTEK e+ Autoff Gas Stove device.

YZTEK e+ Autoff

Statistics have shown that more than 10 kitchen fires are triggered daily in Taiwan, and unreported occurrences are several times higher. Taiwanese brand YZTEK strives to make every house safer with innovative technology, and the e+ Autoff was created to address this issue. It is a plug-in device that can be fitted into any gas stove and will switch off your gas stove automatically at a preset timing, should the user forgotten to attend to the stove at the preset timing.

Since 2019, YZTEK has been successfully marketing the e+ Autoff, and the company has achieved significant sales, surpassing 200,000 units sold to households in Taiwan. To learn more about the product's features and advantages for Malaysian households, we had the opportunity to interview Mr. Ryde Shih, the overseas sales director at YZTEK.

Q: Hi, Mr Ryde Shih, can you tell us about the potential problems that arise when homeowners leave their stove unattended and fail to turn off the fire?

Ryde Shih: Yes, of course. In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, it's easy to become absent-minded and overlook simple tasks. Turning off the stove fire during cooking is one such activity that, if ignored, might have disastrous results. Countless kitchen fires have started as a result of this negligence, posing a huge risk to households everywhere. Cooking fires are, in fact, one of the top causes of household fires globally.

As a solution, YZTEK has developed a breakthrough product called the e+ Autoff, which is intended to assist you in preventing stove fires caused by absent-mindedness. It can significantly reduce the likelihood of forgetting to turn off the burner, averting damaged meals or disasters. This device has successfully shut off stoves in Taiwan households over 500,000 times in the last 4 years.

Qanvast (Q): How does the e+ Autoff work?

Ryde Shih: The e+ Autoff is very easy to use. When the stove is turned on, it automatically starts a countdown of 15 minutes. Users can adjust the cooking time according to their preference. When the set time is reached, it will start beeping for one minute to remind the user to turn off the stove. If no one comes to switch off the cooker, the e+ Autoff will turn off the fire automatically by twisting the knob.

Qanvast: What are the benefits of using the e+ Autoff?

Ryde Shih: There are numerous advantages to using the e+ Autoff. Besides being able to automatically turn off the stove, the user has the choice to decide the timing of the cooking allowing you to reduce your gas use. This helps in reducing carbon footprint and promotes sustainability in the building.

By taking preventative precautions to prevent fires in your kitchen, you are also able to reduce your insurance costs.

The e+ Autoff is compatible with any type of stove and can be directly installed on any gas stove currently on the market. This product is also incredibly simple to set up. Simply remove the original gas hob knob and replace it with this device, and it’s ready to use. Users do not have to adopt a new habit to turn on the timer as e+ Autoff is automatically turned on when the fire is turned on.

Jye Li An Touch-Free Sensor Flush Kit

One of their latest advancements includes a motion sensor flush that can add convenience to our daily life. This groundbreaking product can be easily installed in any existing toilet.

Qanvast recently had the privilege of interviewing Jane (Sales Manager) and Judy (International Sales Specialist) from JLA to gain insights into the product's features and its potential benefits for Malaysian households.

Qanvast: Hi, can you tell us about the JLA motion sensor toilet flush and how does it work?

Judy: Before I explain the technology behind the product, have you ever had trouble turning or flushing your side-pressure toilet? Or are you worried about the spread of viruses and bacteria when you use the flush handle? This is a frequent issue that many people confront on a daily basis.

As a result, our R&D team has created a retrofit kit to remedy your problem with only a few simple parts to accomplish "no-touch flushing." This device consists of three parts: a flusher set, a battery box, and a controller. The flusher set must be installed inside the water tank, and when you use the motion sensor controller, the flusher set will begin flushing without the need to touch the flush handle.

Qanvast: What are the various functions of the motion sensor toilet flush?

Judy: The product includes two flush modes: touch and wave. Users need only wave at the remote, and the motion sensor will detect and flush the toilet for them. There is a sensor distance limit for the wave sensing approach, which we suggest is within 10 cm.

Aside from the motion sensor, you can flush the toilet manually by pressing the remote button. The button has two flushing options: a big flush and a small flush.

It is also worth noting that even with this device retrofitted to your toilet, you can still use your side toilet flush normally.

Qanvast: What are the advantages of using this motion sensor flush?

Jane: There are many benefits to having this motion sensor flush. Among them is by eliminating the need for physical contact with the flush handle or button, the risk of spreading germs and bacteria is reduced. This can be especially beneficial in homes with multiple family members or guests.

The product's second advantage is its ease of installation. To retrofit this product, you do not need to replace your current toilet. It merely takes 3 new parts to convert it to a wave-control toilet.

Our retrofit kit can also be installed by yourself. On the package, we included installation instructions as well as a QR code, which you can scan to watch the installation video. This cuts installation expenses tremendously.

Qanvast: Can the product be fitted in any type of toilet?

Judy: The JLA motion sensor toilet flush can be installed on any sized toilet in any layout, however it is only suitable for side-pressure toilets.

1. The water tank should have ample space (part size is 135 x 115 x 95 mm) to install the retrofit kit.
2. The shape of the toilet downpipe must be circular, and the outer diameter must be between 26 to 33 mm.

Qanvast: How are the devices powered, and will it notify you if the battery dies?

Judy: This product is battery-operated. 4 AA batteries are required for the battery box and 2 AAA batteries for the controller. If you flush the toilet 100 times per day, the batteries should last 6 to 8 months before they need to be replaced.

If the flusher does not operate or makes unusual noises (for example, the lever cannot be pulled up), this usually indicates a problem with the battery.

Qanvast: What are the maintenance requirements for motion sensor toilet flushes?

Judy: The controller's sensor window should be cleaned every 2 to 4 weeks, but avoid using acid or alkali-based cleaners because they can shorten the product's lifespan.

Although the sensor is waterproof, it cannot be submerged in water. So during installation, ensure that the device is installed above the water level in the tank.
