Project Details
The design for Paperworks & Papercino was inspired by how a homeowner’s living space can be. By creating a black canvas, it sets a blank slate for the furniture & fitments to tell their tale.
The initial space was a blank canvas that we cleared boundaries between showroom café for public space at the front and office for private space at the back achieved by black canvas geometry. In order to allow natural light to circulate, the café bar and showroom combined and designed into an open plan, with divider and curtain to define the public and private areas. As you enter, the horizontal display structures and vertical walls in the space come together in a three-dimensional way. This improves the overall flow of the showroom furniture set up and allows you to move easily and seamlessly throughout, while providing more ambient light to the living space and café kitchen.
This sense of flow was integral to the design scheme. We aimed to create a place of peaceful comfort and solitude in each corner, while allowing a partial view of the entire space. This provides an uninterrupted view and flow throughout the showroom living space.
With a café bar and a showroom space around the perimeter, the black canvas is a secret space set within. It is also an exclusive lounge where art, furniture, building materials, kitchen wares and accessories are displayed. Within the black box, barista tools and coffeemaker display on the shelves comes to life and elevate the entire lounge space.
We use simple lines to combine different materials, so that the space has a sense of hierarchy without clutter. Thin black shelves of different heights were placed to let light in, and the kitchen cabinets are showcasing the premium accessories and also discreet storage spaces for café. The attention to design details combined with practical storage space adds fun, character and style without loud colours or complex textures to get back to the simplicity and minimalism of living. Complementing a minimal colour palette of black, grey and stone are in parts of the home, bringing natural textures and variation to the space.
A showroom designed as a home living, office and café, is both rejuvenating and welcoming at the same time. This modern yet home inspired showroom redefines comfort and luxury in the minimalist way.The design for Paperworks & Papercino was inspired by how a homeowner’s living space can be.
