“The essence of Zen” this brief guided Paperworks to create a Zen Oasis. This project aimed to design a home that embodies the spirit of Zen, offering a serene respite from the hustle and bustle of city life. Inspired by the guiding principle, Paperworks embarked on a transformative journey to craft a sanctuary that harmoniously blends simplicity, balance and tranquillity. The Zen Oasis is envisioned as an intimate retreat that integrates natural, light and open space to evoke peace and mindfulness. This project design focuses on three key principles: simplicity in design, seamless integration with nature, and the creation of functional and mindful spaces. Simplicity in design. The design language eliminates clutter and celebrates minimalism. Clean, linear forms donate the space and a neutral color palette of soft whites, muted greys, and earthy texture sets a soothing tone, seamlessly flowing from the entrance lift lobby to the general living areas and into the private bedroom. The lift lobby creates a welcoming ambiance through the use of soft lighting. Curved details applied to the oval ceiling, bench and display corner serve as highlighted features, giving the space a softer and more inviting appearance while adding a touch of elegance and sophistication. The interior layout adapts to daily needs emphasizing multifunctional furniture and spaces. For example, the dining bench features a comfortable height backrest and come with hidden internal storage, while the horizontal steel rod is designed to support the display shelf while also creates a striking feature light for the pantry. To maximize storage and enhance the flow of the interior, the dining table is placed diagonally between the feature wood panel and the coffee pantry bar. These design choices not only optimize functionality but also create a sense of openness and visual harmony in the space, ensuring both practical use and aesthetic balance. Seamless integration with nature. The living and dining area embrace minimalism, favoring clean lines, uncluttered spaces, and functional hidden storage to create a tranquil and harmonious living environment. Every element from the natural materials, forms and details to the thoughtful placement of furnishings, is intended to enhance the quality of living experience, allowing for both functionality and aesthetic enjoyment. By embracing minimalism and nature, the space becomes not just a place to live, but a sanctuary that nurtures well-being and peaceful living. Paperworks emphasizes this connection with thoughtful design elements such as indoor plants placed at the central corner of living space, creating an oval-shaped window that offer views of the outdoors, and an emphasis on maximizing natural light through the use of a slanted feature wall in both the dining and living space. The integration of subtle design details ensures the home feels both sophisticated and grounded, fostering a sense of openness and tranquillity that enhances the overall of the space. Functional and Mindful Space. Each room serves a purpose while encouraging mindfulness. The living area is designed with a “forms follow function” arrangement, where the slanted modular sofa shape mirrors the oval window feature wall, creating a cohesive and harmonious flow between the furniture and architectural elements. The dining bench is complemented by a built-in storage and display window platform, enhancing both functionality and visual appeal by providing additional storage space while showcasing curated items. Bedroom features a curved shelter headboard, with the curved ceiling design creating a cozy, evoking atmosphere that enhances the sense of comfort in the space. The Zen Oasis invites its home owner on a sensory journey, starting with a minimalist entryway that opens into a large, light-filled living atrium adorned with natural design elements. A meandering diagonal pathway leads to the communal spaces, guiding the flow of interior movement in a way that resonate deeply with simplicity, calmness and purpose, enhancing the overall sense of Zen tranquillity within the space. This Zen Oasis encapsulates the spirit of Zen in every detail, providing a timeless sanctuary to inspire harmony and inner peace.
