First met up with Charmain through my sister’s recommendation. We’re glad that we did not have to go through any sort of reno nightmare as first time homeowners. We appreciate her help to coordinate with all our external vendors for installation etc. Along the way, there were no major hiccups and Charmain was responsive and prompt in resolving any minor ones. Overall, we would recommend Ofthebox for their timeliness, responsiveness and service recovery (all of which to us, is the most important).

Amongst the sea of confusing designers, Andy was a complete breath of fresh air!! Not pushy, but with many interesting and innovative suggestions that were budget conscious. I am happy and glad to have Andy as the Interior Designer. He is very hard working and very responsive (even in strange timing). He take his time to understand our ever changing requirement, and trying to meet them. He gives very valuable suggestions in term of design and practicality balancing between cost. He is definitely a value add in my opinion in this very stressful renovation time. Andy has an eye for detail and will directly get the contractor to change things when it doesn’t meet his expectation, so you don’t have to worry! For bigger issues he will inform you and suggest options with his rationale and that made deciding so much easier! Any queries you may have will be answered almost immediately which is impressive. Highly recommended for the outstanding work that they provided!

We’ve been to Interior designer fairs and met multiple interior designers before we came across Of the box on TikTok. We were impressed by their work and decided to proceed with them. With every project, It is impossible to expect zero ups and downs throughout. I’ve heard so many home renovation horror stories from people around me. Likewise for us, we met many hiccups along the way. However, both Jay & Charmian were reliable and very responsive to all our request. Our concerns were addressed and issues were rectified timely. This is one of the ID company suggested by Qanvast. Frankly speaking, I do not have a good impression of the company partly because even before meetup, the ID in charge of the job changed at least 3 times before the meetup, indicative sign the company had resource allocation issue. However, the meetup was with 1 senior and 1 junior ID. The senior id, Darren is able to answer most of my queries and take the lead in the all meetup sessions and discussion whereas the junior ID, Clark is just taking notes of the discussion and do not participate in the discussion. Therefore, I decided to go along with the ID company despite the warning sign. A summary of the final minor renovation works involved is as below: 1. Hacking of the tiles for both toilets and replacing all items in toilets 2. Carpentry works for the living room and master bedroom 3. Painting works for the entire house with sealer 4. Replacement of floor tiles for the living room 5. Addition of door for the kitchen 6. Lighting and electrical works for the entire house 7. Minor work (I.e. fixing cabinet, door stopper etc for the main door, removing of stickers at various aspect of the house for the switches) 8. Chemical cleaning for the carpentry works and 1 post cleaning work provided by the ID company. Floor tiles Due to the payment collection milestones, the hacking and the tiling work for the living room and toilets are done quite efficiently within first week of renovation but the quality of the tiling is not there, at first video, question had been raised if grouting had been done but was assured grouting is completed. But on further checks, there are quite a few obvious unbalanced tiles not paste properly from naked eye and the ID keep silent about them and was detected by ourselves. By then, the renovation work already near to completion and nothing can be done but to live with them. Timeline and management The overall timeline schedule was arranged and even a non professional will know not to arrive for things before all painting are done but all items are scheduled to come before painting to be done. I need to chase a few times for the timeline of the renovation before I can see the final timeline. Painting works After pointing that out it is not reasonable for painting to be done much later, the painting work was moved forward. We wanted to come to supervise the painting work but the painters arrived in late afternoon whereby we are no longer around since we came in the morning and the ID was not present that day. The quality of the painting which i can't gauge the ID checked the work but by the time, we checked the quality of the painting was very bad, the painting brush line were rough, walls popped out at areas and the uneven line and bubbles of the walls which we need to tape and highlight to the ID instead of he telling us they will be rework on. The first touch up was arranged in the morning (9 to 10am) and sent by the ID on this timeline, once again we went over and waited till noon and decided to confirm if the touch up going to take place and was told it was moved to the afternoon. Once again, ID silent on timeline change, did not update on the change and not present. The ID did not appeared to supervise or even check the work and we did the check ourselves again, the painting quality was bad and the ID now quoted its due to the uneven walls surface which is true to a certain extent and I can understand because I did not chose to plaster the entire house but these are not the patches I having issue. Nevertheless, another touch up was arranged and told us touch up only 1 person will be sent and could takes quite awhile but we are okay to wait and finally, we managed to meet the painter and communicated the issues with all the painting and managed to resolve those issues we saw like water stains, uneven painting that need sanding etc without the presence of the ID. Toilet work Once the hacking and tiling done for the toilet, we went and checked and feedback the kerb is too low and there is water splash concern but this is ignored and they proceed with the installation of new toilet doors for master and common toilets. This issue was brought out again and the ID tried to attempt for some easy shortcut of pasting one more layer tiles to assure our concern and we insisted that the kerb even with 1 layer of tile (12mm) was too low and we need to propose solution for their mistake so that they won't incur additional cost and change the entire door and finally agreed on it and resolved this issue. There came the installation of the toilet accessories whereby I came down after work to go through one by one with the ID and go ahead with what he proposed for the shampoo rack (distance 20cm - according to ID that the standard usual distance). But when the contractor came to install on weekend, the contractor doubted the distance of 20cm and proposed 30cm and the ID called me urgently despite mentioning I am currently engaged in something as the contractor are waiting for instruction on site to proceed. Once again, my ID was not there with the contractor. To be continued...

we had the pleasure to work with Phyllis and Danish from Massing Design and it was such a pleasant journey. one of the reasons why we picked them out of many is because they were prompt in their replies, suggestions and proactiveness even during the beginning. we are first time home buyers and it was a nervy experience having so many options for ID but we're glad we chose Phyllis and Danish. we wanted someone who is transparent, not afraid to tell us the blindspots and also experienced. On the onset, we had an idea of how we wanted our house to look like but didnt know if it was executable. with their expertise and transparency, they highlighted some blindspots and how we could work around some things. After visiting our home for their site recce, they gave us a heads up on certain setbacks we might face if we went ahead with certain things so that our expectations are managed and there wont be any unexpected surprises in the middle of our renovation journey. During the renovation process, they were so prompt in updating us on the progress of the house. even without us checking in, they would send us the progress, challenges and also alternatives. more often than not, they would come with solutions so we dont have to. even during handover, they are the ones highlighted some defects even when we couldn't spot it. it really shows that they want the best for us and want to make sure they handover at the best condition possible and really took ownership over it. i highly recommend them to anyone who are looking for someone who takes ownership, responsible and also proactive to partner with for their renovation journey!

I was introduced to Bernard through a friend. While I had no previous experience on any renovations, Bernard guided me through the entire journey with his professional advice and with great patience. As I had a very tight schedule to meet, I needed to get the renovation done, at the same time coordinating for other areas such as furnitures delivery and cleaning. Bernard has been very accommodating and never failed in acceding to all my last minute requests. He ensured all the works required are carried out on schedule and completed with excellent quality. Design Design is as per my request. Simple minimalist style, yet cosy enough to give you a comfortable experience Workmanship Excellent quality, attention to details. Simple details where people usually don't observe were also well taken care of. Service Customer service is excellent and always very responsive. At times when I suddenly remembered something even late at night, Bernard never failed to provide me with the information required and the estimates timeline. Value for Money Affordable, value for money. Dismantling and hacking works may sound expensive but I was give a quote which I feel is affordable and acceptable.

3 -room flat, limited space, 2 big size client(ops! ) . That's what concluded the whole project. While we are expecting our new HDB purchase cycle to be completed, we have started our ID hunting journey via Qanvas. We tried to search and see what kind of theme we like and bingo! Dan Avenue project appeared in the search. We have then touch base with Dan Avenue via Qanvast, we got assigned to Louise Lee, our incredible ID from Dan avenue. Upon our initial meeting, we have stated our problems such as limited space to accommodate good size sofa with good view of TV, we need a good planning of space usage and more storage. Louise has been very patient in listening to our needs , then propose his solutions. We brainstormed the interior design together, and that's when we realise he has a very good taste of understanding our needs and go beyond to propose some solutions to overcome potential issues base on his past experience in this industry. Louise had been a great support in guiding us what kind of accessories should we purchase for kitchen, toilet and etc., what kind of material should we choose to best match our needs, the pro and cons and many more. While the renovation is on-going, it just be so coincident we are not available to be on site or visit the site, Louise has demonstrated his excellent project management skills in updating the working schedule, detailing the key dates that needed our attention, taking videos on the renovation progress, and andwering to our querries. He had successfully delivered the project on time, within the budget and very minimal touch up required. Great to have you as our ID, Louise!
