Me and my fiance actually started off by comparing between different ID firms. When meeting Lucas and Paul we felt that they offered us a good middle ground where we had a say in what we wanted as well as advice on certain design aspects/costs of the whole renovation work. This made us feel that we were part of the whole renovation project as opposed to some other firms where they decide everything for you. When giving suggestions, we never felt pressured to make a choice, it felt more like a collaboration. The house we got was previously a rental flat, so major renovations had to be done. When comparing between the different firms- we felt that the cost they provided for hacking/tiling were the cheapest ones and the quality of the tiling work was fantastic. The tilers even helped my mom smooth out some coasters (lol) that we got as samples. Throughout the project- frankly speaking, me and my fiance are very indecisive people as this is also the first time we are tasked to choose so many things. What made this so pleasant was the patience and attention to detail that Lucas gave-- honestly we might have changed our minds about 100 times yet every VO was accurate. Lucas was also always quick to reply throughout the whole process and has always never overpromised us things (which is our pet peeve) i.e. will only tell us things can be done/cannot be done after checking carefully with the suppliers/contractors. He was also always present when we were choosing our tiles, furnitures (toilet stuff, bed frame etc.) even though sometimes we could only make it quite late since we are both working. We think we are very lucky and blessed to have met someone as patient and helpful as Lucas that made this whole stressful period enjoyable. To whoever is reading this and is similar to us/ wants a similar experience please don't hold back from contacting them. Thank you to Lucas Pe, who is a very patient Designer who gave us a smooth experience on the renovation across the 3-month duration. Lucas did a good job for us, and taking a balance between budget, design and realistic usage of the house design as per our requirement. Met several Interior Designers introduced by Qanvast at the same time. While others were still poring over photos of our pre-renovated flat before meeting, TRACIE LIM from Darwin Interior HQ at Ubi was prompt, efficient and immediately started throwing out ideas to see which one we like best. Renovation journey for our 30+ years old 4-room HDB flat was smooth and quick. Done within 2 month plus even though we hacked away and replace all the tiles, re-wire and re-do plumbing plus re-painted and also re-do carpentry. Our shabby 30+ years 4-room HDB flat was given a total overhaul and people who saw our flat says it looks like a hotel suite with good workmanship for tiling and carpentry too!

Paul Lau from Darwin Interior Design has been very patient with our requests & what we need for our renovation. He has given very useful advice and suggestions that we should consider in the design. We appreciate that our vision for what we would like in the design is respected & Paul has tried his best to incorporate our ideas in the design too. It has been an experience for our dream kitchen to materialise & the outcome is as per the 3D design only better than what it looked like on the 3D. We have always envisioned an island in the kitchen but wonder how it would be installed. Paul suggested an interesting movable island which could work in our kitchen space. At last, what we could only dream actually became a reality & we are pleased with the end product which looks good & better than what we expected. It is one of the best space usage in the new kitchen layout. Paul is also very friendly & always willing to listen to our ideas. He gives good solutions & ways to overcome some challenges. We are appreciative of the excellent attention provided in terms of work done. The niche we requested for a space for multi-purpose use near the living room turned out well too. We like the outcome and the final look of the end product. Our guests like the look & design of our kitchen & we would not hesitate to recommend Darwin Interior & our ID, Paul Lau.

After going through more than 15 ID firms, we finally settled on Vincent Tan for our home renovation project. While his quote was not the lowest, it was competitive. Vincent was able to condense our preferred design elements with the functional needs of the house in his proposed layout, while advising on the colours and furnitures to pair with the design theme. Vincent’s patience and good sense of humour makes him easy for us to talk to and work with. He had been attentive to our requirements, and accommodative to the numerous requests, queries and changes we had throughout this renovation journey despite his busy schedule. When we encountered delays and defects, Vincent was quick to check on them and arrange the necessary remedial actions. Despite the renovation period eventually extending from the scheduled 9 weeks to 15 weeks (partly due to some of our requests), it was a blessing to have him as our ID. We would highly recommend Vincent and look to engage him again in future! :)

I think choosing and finding an ID that suits you is a daunting task and I'm glad I did it when I met Vernice at Darwin Interior - communication was easy and clear with her. She's always able to understand what I want and expect, and she'll give her honest feedback as well as some suggestions. Also, Darwin Interior was able to accomodate well to meet my budget, while delivering what I want. The whole process of the renovation was quite smooth and well taken care of by Vernice - whenever there's any issue, Vernice is always able to resolve it at her level which really gave me a peace of mind. The quality and workmanship are considerably good and they are able to deliver exactly what was presented to me in the 3D drawing. The style and way of engaging an ID differ from people to people, but if you're someone who roughly knows what you want, values great communication with your ID, and open to suggestions, you might enjoy working with Vernice from Darwin Interior.
