What’s Hot in 2025: Interior Designers Share the Latest Trends
Top trends to look out for in 2025.
As we step into 2025, interior design gently shifts its focus. Homeowners seek solutions that align with modern needs — like sustainability, well-being and multifunctional spaces — new trends emerge or continue to rise. Social media and global influences also help accelerate the spread and evolution of design trends, ensuring they stay fresh and relevant.
Wondering which paint colours will reign or which design styles will steal the spotlight this year? We asked 8 interior designers to share their predictions. Read on to find out interior designer-approved trends you can expect to see everywhere this year and what is quietly fading into the past so you can create stylish, up-to-date spaces that reflect your personal taste and lifestyle!
1. Curves and rounded details are still here to stay
"Curved and rounded details have been on the rise for a long time and are still here to stay", says Wei Ling from IQI Concept. From statement sofas to boucle armchairs and rounded dining tables, these shapes bring softness and movement to your space. Rounded furniture also helps create a more inviting, flowy vibe, making it perfect for cosy, modern homes.
Wei Ling suggests pairing curved furniture with natural textures and muted palettes such as beige, cream, or ivory for maximum effect. These tones not only enhance the softness and elegance of the space but also create a timeless, serene ambiance.
2. Muted, earthy tones replace cold, stark white spaces
This brings us to trend number two. Andrea from Spacemetic Studio speculates that muted, earthy tones will also be a key trend in 2025, as they reflect a growing preference for calming and grounding interiors. In an increasingly fast-paced world, these palettes offer a sense of tranquillity and connection to nature, making them highly sought after for modern homes.
Meanwhile, Wei Ling of IQI Concept shares, “Cold, stark white spaces are on their way out. All-white interiors are being replaced with earthy tones and richer hues like terracotta and warm browns. These colours add personality, warmth, and depth to a room while maintaining a bright and airy feel, creating a more inviting and cosy atmosphere.”
3. Landed home refurbishment with indoor-outdoor living gaining popularity
According to Vanessa of YIA Design Office, young families are increasingly opting for landed properties to accommodate their need for more space, making landed property refurbishments a likely trend moving forward.
“We’ve worked on many refurbishment projects recently, and our clients are particularly keen on incorporating greenery both inside and outside their homes, as well as maximising natural light and ventilation,” she explains.
“In fact, most of our landed projects include features like courtyards or skylights, and clients are always enthusiastic about exploring these options.”
Wei Ling of IQI Concept shares a similar perspective on the growing trend of indoor-outdoor living, predicting it will be a major design focus in 2025.
"Homes are increasingly blending indoor and outdoor spaces through the use of huge glass doors and bi-fold windows that flood interiors with natural light," she explains. "This seamless connection to nature creates a refreshing, open atmosphere, making spaces feel brighter, airier, and more inviting."
4. Spaces designed for well-being will be more common this year
With the growing emphasis on health and well-being, dedicated wellness spaces are set to become a cornerstone of home design. In 2025, wellness will no longer be just a trend—it will become a way of life, according to Ice of Poco Atelier. “Our homes are evolving into sanctuaries where well-being is woven into every detail. The focus is on creating spaces that encourage calm, reflection and mindfulness,” she explains.
This year, many modern homes will feature cosy reading nooks bathed in natural light, yoga corners that encourage both movement and stillness, and interiors designed to nurture the body and mind. Natural textures, organic forms, and a thoughtfully curated layout will work together to create a harmonious environment that serves as a daily reminder to slow down, pause, and breathe.
5. Ambient and indirect lights will replace direct overhead lighting
Lighting is one of the most transformative elements in interior design and this year, it’s all about indirect lighting. Gone are the days of centralised illumination that can create harsh shadows and glare, leading to an uncomfortable or overly bright environment. Instead we’re giving way to more dynamic and layered lighting solutions.
Andrea of Spacemetic Studio and Chloe Kuek of BOLDNDOT both agree that 2025 will bring a surge in the use of ambient and indirect lighting in modern homes. This trend emphasises creating a cosy atmosphere by layering lighting sources, including hanging fixtures, sconces, table lamps, floor lamps and LED strip lights.
Andrea notes that "Direct, white lighting has been falling out of favour, with a shift toward softer, more atmospheric lighting."
“The shadow-free lighting (indirect lighting) eliminates the need for traditional ceiling lights, creating a modern and uncluttered ambiance,” Chloe added.
6. Homeowners embracing artisan-crafted furniture and sustainable materials
“The approach to material selection in 2025 has become more soulful and intentional,” says Ice of Poco Atelier. With a shift away from mass-produced furniture, homeowners are gravitating toward pieces crafted from natural materials like wood, made by skilled artisans who carry knowledge and techniques passed down through generations.
“This movement represents sustainability deeply rooted in tradition, slow craftsmanship, and a genuine respect for materials. It reflects a desire for homes to tell a story—one of history, artistry, and a commitment to preserving the beauty and integrity of the natural world,” explains Ice.
Isaac Lim of Mieux Design agrees, noting, “For timeless designs that stand the test of time — be it 2025 or beyond — the application of marble and natural stone remains a classic choice. These materials have an enduring appeal, effortlessly elevating the look of any space with a touch of luxury.”
7. Clean and minimalist designs will continue to be popular this year
Chloe Kuek of BOLDNDOT predicts that simplicity and cleanliness will dominate home design aesthetics in 2025. This trend focuses on creating a relaxed, effortless vibe by prioritising functionality without sacrificing style. A standout feature of this movement is the use of minimalist shadow/concealed doors, which blend seamlessly into walls to create a sleek, clutter-free look—perfect for modern, understated interiors.
Another notable trend for 2025 is the growing popularity of integrated refrigerators. This design innovation involves blending the refrigerator seamlessly into the cabinetry or walls, creating a streamlined and cohesive look. By eliminating visual interruptions, integrated appliances contribute to a cleaner aesthetic.
8. Personalised, ‘mix-and-match' interiors will take over cookie-cutter designs
Wei Ling of IQI Concept suggests that “Design concepts that are totally locked into one theme, such as a farmhouse or nautical theme, are over. Now it’s all about subtle, a flexible design that mixes things up. Instead of going all-in on one aesthetic, try blending textures and decor for a more balanced, laid-back feel.”
Meanwhile, Ice of Poco Atelier shares similar insights, saying that such interiors will reflect the lives, personalities, and dreams of those who inhabit them.

9. Foldable wardrobe doors and vertical storage systems are set to gain popularity this year
In 2025, folding wardrobe doors and vertical storage systems will remain popular, particularly in households with limited square area. Eason of Big Design Interior said these space-saving solutions are becoming essential for homeowners looking to make the most of their living space.
Stacking appliances, like washing machines and dryers, are also expected to remain a popular choice in 2025. By stacking these machines, homeowners can free up floor space, which is essential in tight or multipurpose rooms.
10. Textured finishes on walls will be a preference this year
Another key design trend in 2025 is the use of walls as a canvas for creativity and expression. Often overlooked, these walls play an important role in shaping the atmosphere and character of a space, says Carina of UP Creations PLT.
"There’s a heavy preference for textured surfaces right now. Textured finishes like stucco, limewash, and clay take centre stage in homes this year, adding depth and a tactile appeal that transforms walls into dynamic design features," she explains.
"Neutral and earthy tones such as beige, taupe, and sand provide a calming and nature-inspired backdrop, while sustainable materials and eco-friendly coatings reflect a growing focus on environmental consciousness."
