1. Add a dose of greenery

Plants are the best way to liven up a drab bathroom. They not only add lovely pops of colour and texture to a room, but they also help to purify the air. Consider hanging eucalyptus leaves around your shower head to create a spa-like atmosphere in your bathroom. The steam from your shower will aid in the release of the plant's oil, which has been shown to reduce inflammation, pain, and stress while also improving respiratory health.

Meanwhile, low-maintenance plants like aloe vera, Boston ferns, Orchids or Bird of Paradise, and dumb canes, as seen in this PINS Studio bathroom, can thrive in a humid environment as long as natural sunlight enters the space.

2. Swap out old mirrors

Bathroom mirrors are useful in a variety of ways. It can stand out as a focal point in a room and create the illusion of a brighter environment. Long and tall mirrors both work well in creating the illusion of a larger space, so choose a shape and style that complements the size and layout of your bathroom, as IQI Concept did here.

3. Replace old fixtures/hardware

If replacing an entire bathroom cabinet or washbasin is out of the question, think about replacing your bathroom hardware instead. Drawer pulls, toilet roll holders and faucets are examples of small changes that can make a big difference in the overall appearance of your bathroom. It only takes a few minutes and usually doesn't cost much to replace.

Consider adding an accent wall or repainting your vanity cabinets with your favourite colour of choice, as seen in The Grid Studio's bathroom. A mint green cabinet added a dash of colour and character to the otherwise monochrome bathroom.

Get a similar colour paint from Shopee: Jotun water-based mint green paint 7L, RM48.00.

5. Incorporate convenient storage spaces

If your shampoo bottles keep falling off when you try to reach them, it indicates that your bathroom is lacking in counter space. Assuming you've already decluttered all expired bath products, add storage baskets, shelves, and over-the-toilet units to store shampoo bottles, toothbrushes, cotton swabs among other things and to keep clutter at bay.
