10 Instagram Home Accounts to Follow for First-Hand Home & Living Tips

Turn mindless scrolling into something productive.

Social media has changed a lot over the last five years. Most content creators have shifted their focus from merely having an aesthetic feed to letting followers in on their ‘uncurated’ lives. Think posting a makeup tutorial instead of just the final made up look, for instance.

The best creators, of course, do both. Which is why many home accounts in Singapore have amassed sizeable followings, providing to-be homeowners with visual inspiration for their renovation, practical advice, as well as product reviews/recommendations.

If you haven’t already heard about them, here are some you should check out (in no particular order):

1. @foongfamilyflat

Inviting others to live vicariously through their (camera) lens, homeowners Wes and Ange cover a wide range of home and living topics from their house hunting story – and how they eventually decided to go with a resale flat – to everyday affairs like cleaning and home organisation vlogs.

After all, there’s something calming about watching others go about their lives, so… why not?

P.S. They've also got four adorable cats!

2. @home.swee.home

Think of @home.swee.home like the seniors you had in school, who gave you little nuggets of wisdom from personal experience – but in the form of renovation guides, hacks and more. Noteworthy examples include how they managed to keep their BTO renovation at $40,000 and why they met with a whopping 36 interior designers before deciding on one.

Two years into their homeownership journey, they now share about their renovation regrets as well as tiny details first-timers often overlook, so you don’t make the same ‘mistakes’ they did.

What started as an account to document their renovation journey has since evolved into what homeowners Jo & Kin aptly describe as a “visual diary of [their] home, meals and everything in between.”

From an extremely aesthetic feed that will give you a serotonin boost as you scroll, to useful home and living hacks, we knew Jo & Kin were our crowd the moment we read their introductory sign-off: “adulting is tough, but nobody says we can’t do it together”.

4. @homewithleongs

Likewise starting out as an account to document their 4-room BTO renovation journey, these homeowners now share things like the exact paints/tiles/laminates used in their home for those who want to get the look, as well as questions to ask yourself before meeting an ID.

The Leongs also describe themselves as deal hunters, so do watch this space for home and living product recommendations/deals!

This viral video on ‘styling’ HDB-issued toilet bowls may have been what caught our attention at first, but it’s just one of the many things that kept us hooked on this account.

In the early days, the homeowners documented their experience choosing materials for their 4-room BTO in Ubi. Now, they constantly update their feed with ongoing adulting adventures (like their first time experience with a part-time helper) that we can all relate to.

6. @cnbrr.hm

Removing all the vowels in “canberra home”, @cnbrr.hm is set against the backdrop of Corinne and Fazlie’s rustic-looking abode which, by the way, gets a gorgeous evening glow we’re extremely jealous of.

What, in our opinion, makes this account unique is how it has such a good balance of well-curated Kinfolk-esque mood shots and styling tips, cut to quirky photos and videos of the couple having a ball of a time in their own home.

As a working mom, homeowner Joanne is as relatable as it gets, documenting what it’s like to raise two kids while she and her husband juggle full-time jobs.

Stay peeled as she dishes out useful budgeting and time-saving cleaning hacks, along with personal reflections such as first-time homeowner considerations, Taobao furniture recommendations, and “Should I Buy…” videos to help you make informed decisions when it comes to your renovation and home-related purchases

While most Singaporeans dream of moving to a condo, homeowner Vivienne and her family made the unique decision to move from a condo to a shophouse lot.

The decision was 100% worth it, we reckon, because the latter now really looks like a celebrity’s home on Architectural Digest’s Open Door series. It’s no wonder their home has been featured on Harper’s Bazaar Singapore, Living DNA and counting.

This hipster bachelor pad is definitely NOT giving Uniqlo Airism Basic SG Boy.

Reminiscent of San Francisco’s lofts, Georgene’s home is paradoxically minimalist yet eclectic. Featuring carefully curated houseplants, furnishings and decor from bold, monochromatic pieces, to quirky colourful ones, we simply can’t get enough of his home. To sum it up in three words: vibes, vibes, and more vibes.

10. @bendlightflat

Short for “Bendemeer Light Flat”, this is not your average Singapore home either. Boasting a Parisian chic aesthetic, it’s got all the classical works like a chandelier, marble-clad surfaces, wainscoting and yes, even a pot filler faucet.

Looks aside, the homeowners have a Small & Mighty Kitchen series where they delve into important factors that will maximise space and efficiency in your kitchen. In other words, things you should really discuss with your ID pre-renovation!
