Level up your cleaning game with these tools!
It might be a bit of a cliché, but a clean home is a happy one! And with the 2019-nCOV virus outbreak, it’s more important than ever to ensure your comfort zones stay spick and span. To help you with that, we have put together a list of 10 items under $20 so you won’t have to break the bank cleaning up:
1. Xiaomi Deerma Mop ($19.90 on Lazada, U.P. $39.90)
While it’s important to disinfect your home, you’ll first have to get rid of all the dust. Give your surroundings a good mop down with the Xiaomi Deerma Mop, which comes with its own built-in spray that saves you the hassle of having to lug about a bucket of (dirty and unhygienic) water from room to room.
2. Swee! Microfibre Cloth Duster ($2.50 on RedMart)
Microfibre cloths are great for cleaning all sorts of surfaces because they have tiny synthetic fibres that pick up more dirt and food residue than regular cloths. So, if you were to stick one onto a convenient handle and turn it into a useful duster which costs only $2.50, that’s what we’d call swee (Hokkien for ‘beautiful’)!
3. 3M Scotch-Brite Microfibre Cleaning Cloth ($19.90 for pack of 10 on Qoo10)
The 3M Scotch-Brite Microfibre Cleaning Cloth will make an excellent replacement for your worn-out kitchen rag/dish cloth as it picks up everything from oil to dust without leaving much lint – plus, at $19.90 for a pack of 10 (or just $1.99 per piece), it’s a worthwhile buy for a multipurpose fabric that you can use for just about any sort of cleaning.
4. Hurricane Spin Scrubber ($18.90 on Qoo10, U.P. $29.90)
Take the hard work out of scrubbing the grouts between tiny bathroom/kitchen/floor tiles with the Hurricane Spin Scrubber – this rechargeable electric brush makes it easy to clean between gaps and crevices as its adjustable brush spins at 300RPM, letting you get the job done quickly and properly.
5. Magiclean Extendable Handy Duster ($10.46 on RedMart, U.P. $13.95)
For those suffering from the sniffles because of dust allergies, this handy duster from Magiclean will come in… well, handy. Jokes aside, the Handy Duster’s extendable handle makes cleaning around tight corners and high places easier, plus its high-absorption fibres are soft enough for cleaning even books and house plants.
6. Lysol Disinfectant Spray ($12.90 bundle deal on Qoo10)
How do you ensure that the table you just wiped is totally free of germs? Answer: Simply spritz on some disinfectant spray for a near-guaranteed (99.9% to be exact) clean surface. And yes, it definitely helps, because Lysol is capable of killing over 100 types of illness-causing bugs, including common cold and flu viruses.
7. Dettol 4-in-1 Disinfectant Multi-Surface Cleaner ($8.95 for 1.5L twin pack on RedMart)
We are pretty sure that Dettol needs no introduction, but what makes this 4-in-1 cleaner particularly impressive is the fact that it keeps your home sparkling clean, removes stubborn stains and even kills germs, which is just about everything that any home maker can ask for in a cleaning solution that can be used on floors, bathrooms, and kitchens.
8. Method All-Purpose Cleaner ($6.46 on RedMart)
Don’t be fooled by the colourful bottles! This powerful all-purpose cleaning fluid from Method cuts through tough grease and grime like a hot knife in butter, leaving behind nothing but a refreshing scent. Just squirt it onto any dirty surface for a quick and easy clean-up. Oh, and did we mention that it’s non-toxic too?
9. Clorox Toilet Bowl Cleaner with Bleach ($7.27 for Twinpack on RedMart)
Going by the packaging, it’s safe to say that Clorox’s toilet bowl cleaner does most things that any cleaning fluid does: It kills (99.9% of) germs and removes stains. But one more thing to note, it’s on NEA’s list of household products that are effective against the nCoV bug, which you can check out here.
10. Dettol Laundry Sanitiser ($13.95 on RedMart)
Did you know that at temperatures below 60 degrees Celsius, it’s possible for bacteria to continue surviving on your clothes and in your washing machine? One way to ensure that this doesn’t happen would be to add in a laundry sanitiser like Dettol’s that takes care of harmful microorganisms even during cool 15 degrees Celsius rinse cycles.
