If you’re renovating a 5-room HDB flat, you could be spending as much as $130,000. Yes, you read that right: that’s how high the cost of making over a 5-room flat can be.

But as with renovations for a 3-room BTO flat or a 4-room BTO flat, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll have to fork out more than the expected cost of renovating a new 5-room HDB flat, which is $55,000 to $69,000.

So, what’s the deal with curves? Besides softening up an interior, they also create movement in a big room and extend the eyeline in smaller ones, like the junior bedroom turned walk-in-wardrobe below.

A simple, neutral palette in your home might sound boring – but not if it’s got complementary textures to take things up a notch. The $90,000 spent on this flat’s renovation was well-spent on carpentry and tiling (among other things) to add depth and visual interest in subtle yet pleasing ways.

For this couple who transformed their 5-room BTO flat into a ‘5-star hotel’ for a permanent getaway, their generous budget of $130,000 afforded them floor-to-ceiling mirrors, exquisite fittings and marble-clad surfaces!

The classy fluted panelling in the living room conceals a storage feature and matches the dining area for a seamless look, while the little details – like art pieces and accessories – amp up the luxe vibe throughout the home.

As for the master bedroom, you’ll find it was merged with a junior bedroom to fit a boutique-style walk-in wardrobe, complete with a backlit mirror and bespoke vanity.

The master ensuite is just as wow-worthy, especially with its ‘secret entrance’ that looks like a regular full-height mirror, but is actually a sliding door!
