9 Wanderlust Homes In Singapore

It's the holiday season and we thought it'd be a good time to showcase nine beautiful homes inspired by different travel destinations - from the rich history of Europe, to the Zen culture of Japan, and finally, the relaxed nature of beach resorts.

Join us on this trip around the world to show you the best destination-inspired home designs right here in Singapore.

European Classic

First up, classic Victorian homes reminiscent of the old world charm of 1800s Europe. Victorian style interior design is generally luxurious, focusing on the dramatic, opulent and ornate. This can be achieved through rich colours like plum, burgundy, ruby, forest green and navy, as well as introduction of extravagant furniture.

1. A showpiece for the classic Victorian style, the placement of a grand piano as the centerpiece completes the look with just the right amount of fuss and opulence.

3. Another updated take on the classic Victorian style with monochromatic colours and pared down classical furnishings. The addition of a fake fireplace to hide a TV console is clever and unexpected.

Zen-Inspired

Next, Japanese-style homes for the Zen. Japanese-style interior design focus on simplicity and minimalism. It is based strongly on craftmanship, beauty, elaboration and intricacy, and incorporate natural materials like wood, bamboo, rice straw mats and paper screens.

4. Curved surfaces and shapes are incorporated throughout this apartment, giving it a 'flowy' look. Furniture are kept simple and close to the ground, typical of Japanese decorating.

Resort-Relaxation

Last but not least, resort-like homes. There are two main types - the Balinese style and the Mediterranean style. For the former, try incorporating lots of wood, tropical greenery, warm colours and earthy details. For the latter, warm, natural bright colours resembling the sea, sky, sunshine and sand will bring the Mediterranean into your home.

6. The Balinese style is brought to life with woody textures, tropical plants and tribal lights, accessories and artwork.
