An Adventurous Take On Feature Walls

The typical rule in creating a feature wall is always to keep it to one focal point, and keep all furnishings simple to let the feature wall stand out. We abide to this humble advice until we saw this apartment that bent the rules and took our breath away.

While the use of feature walls in every room of an apartment can sound like a little overkill, admittedly it adds a unique characteristic to every room when done well. The result is not only oddly harmonious but also stunning.

It is hard to miss it when you enter this apartment. A glance from the hallway and you would see how the four various feature walls stand boldly across each other, but without competing for attention.

The chevron pattern wooden wall made of irregular wood strips is a striking feature wall in this living room. The use of dark furnishings in the room is compensated with glass partitions, mirror walls that double up as storage, and reflective tiles to illuminate the place.

Against its back stands the study room. Demarcating the room are glass partitions with wire mesh embedded into its panels. Behind it are 8 large colourful clocks that display the time at 8 international cities; a different take on the regular gallery wall perhaps?

Adding on to the dramatic effect is the green mosaic wall in the dining area that makes a great conversation starter. Stylised light fixtures, black legged chairs and dining table are used to continue the industrial theme.

The master bedroom embarks on a more muted colour tone but does not deviate from the industrial slant. The wire-meshed glass panels on the wardrobe doors, cowhide and exposed cable hanging bulbs that work as bedside lamps do not take away the cosiness of this room, but act as decorative accents to the industrial decor.
