We’re always pretty gung-ho about the topic of preparing a mood board and researching your budget as early as a year before your renovation. The reason? It gives you plenty of time to decide on your ideal budget and the overall interior look you want.
Here’s the other thing: mood boards tell others a lot about your likes and preferences, so IDs you speak to can immediately get a better idea of what you want.

We know JY to be exceedingly creative and adventurous, not just with ideas for all manners of wacky and interesting social media content, but in her personal life too.
Her mood boards tell us as much: they’re filled with colour, patterns and lots of interesting design ideas and inspiration for open displays, the latter which matches up with her visual organising style.

SY from Business Development | Interested in a mix of interior styles
SY is often out and about for both work and in her personal life; after all, she enjoys an active lifestyle and spending time with her beloved furbaby.
While preparing for her home renovation (which was completed recently), SY made a couple of mood boards, including one dedicated to just the living room.
Though she said her “style is everywhere”, we’d argue that you don’t have to box yourself into a particular style – it’s your home after all.

DA from Tech | Heavy on wood, with retro accents and features
DA works the user experience magic amongst other things so that you can enjoy a seamless experience on both our app and website. Besides that, he’s a devout cat dad who never forgets to update us on how his felines are doing.
One thing to keep in mind is that besides personality, there are other factors at play when you work on your moodboard and consider design ideas – like whether you have pets or young kids.
DA’s mood boards reveal a love for warm wood looks and a hint of bold accent colours mixed up with a variety of retro features. And not only that, his detail-oriented nature comes through in how there’s an emphasis on dedicated (and often hidden) storage spaces.

DL, Qanvast co-founder | Loves big, light-filled communal spaces
With just one look at the mood board our boss (i.e. co-founder), DL, shared with us, it becomes evident that he loves big, open spaces with a cosy vibe – especially in communal areas where the family can hang out together.
Well, the other deduction is that his home is big (obviously). But as you can see from his mood board, you can always find inspiration in home types that don’t match yours for aspects like colour schemes and design features.
To find your specific property types, be it a 4-room HDB, a 2-bedder condo or a landed property, you can filter them out while looking for renovation ideas.

We often see CL running at maximum efficiency while crunching numbers and managing various tasks in the office – something most of us creatives in Marketing could hardly imagine doing.
She’s also a quiet but affable individual whose mood board shows a love for both the old and the new, as well as soothing spaces perfect for winding down in – a look we’d say departs from a polished look one might expect of someone in her role.
