Desiring an interior designer who could give them cost-effective yet quality service, Shuwen and her partner set out on a search for an interior designer and met fifteen interior designers in total before they finally settled on Daphne from Meter Square.
We sat down for a chat with the couple and find out if Daphne was able to give them what they wanted.
Qanvast: Share with us about your search for an interior designer.
Shuwen (S): We met fifteen interior designers before we decided on Daphne. I’m quite particular about things hence I wanted to find an interior designer who was cost-effective and who could deliver the concept that I wanted.
We were also facing this dilemma whereby we were not certain if what we wanted for our home was feasible so we needed to find an interior designer who possessed the expertise to advise us on that.
Qanvast: What made Daphne stand out from the other fourteen designers that you met?
S: Some of the other interior designers that we met were quite pushy. They seemed more concerned about securing the deal rather than listening to what we want.
It was different with Daphne as we could communicate well with her. We have also seen her firm’s works before in interior design magazines so we felt that the design standard was there. Lastly, there were many positive reviews for Meter Square on the Qanvast website and their quotation was reasonable so we decided to engage Daphne’s services.
Qanvast: What was your brief to Daphne?
S: I told her that I wanted a bright Scandinavian design for my home with lots of wood elements. It was also essential for me to have a walk-in wardrobe.
Qanvast: Did you already have the design for your walk-in wardrobe in mind at the start of the renovation?
S: We had a general idea and Daphne came up with a few design templates for us to choose from. Along the way, we made customisations for the measurements of the wardrobe to suit our preferences.
Qanvast: How did Daphne help you to keep the renovation costs down?
S: For our walk-in wardrobe, she suggested that we purchase the baskets from IKEA as that would be a cheaper alternative than getting her carpenter to fix it up. As the sizing was quite standard, that wasn’t an issue so in that aspect, she helped us to cut costs.
Qanvast: What did you like best about working with Daphne?
S: She was really prompt. When we saw something that did not meet our expectations, we would let her know and she would send somebody over within the next few days to do the touch up. Even after the renovation is complete, we could still reach her easily.
Qanvast: How did Daphne ensure that you had a smooth renovation journey?
S: She was very structured and gave us a weekly plan for the renovation works so that we would know how the renovation was progressing.
There were also some issues with our condominium management and Daphne helped us to liaise with them. She really helped us to handle a lot of things. Her project management is awesome.
