Game-changing, to say the least.

Whether you’re a chef extraordinaire, casual cook or anything in between, having a reliable fridge makes a world of difference when it comes to streamlining meal prep and whipping up tasty meals.

Apart from looking at energy efficiency, fridge capacity and configuration while shopping, there are several innovative technologies you should consider that can save you precious time while keeping food fresh and sealing in flavour.

As for what exactly these technologies are, keep scrolling to find out!

1. Technology that cools/freezes food fast to seal in flavours and textures

You might be wondering: why would I even need to cool/freeze food quickly?

Fact: regular chillers and freezers can actually cause cell damage to meats and other foods, in turn causing them to lose nutrients and flavours.

Enter Panasonic’s Prime Freeze compartment, with an aluminium tray that removes heat from food while a duct and fan generate a powerful flow of cold air in the compartment to rapidly freeze food.

This compartment has three modes you can use for different needs:

Rapid Freezing mode

With this, you can freeze food up to five times faster while sealing in the flavours and freshness of meat compared to regular freezing, which would cause frozen food to deteriorate easily.

You’ve probably heard your mom saying that frozen meat just doesn’t taste as good at least once. So, for all that food you’d think twice about leaving in the freezer? Just use this compartment; your chicken will still be crispy and juicy when deep-fried, and bread will stay soft and fluffy.

Quick Cooling mode

Whipping up a last-minute meal or satisfying a sudden sugar craving just got a lot easier: the Quick Cooling mode helps marinades to sink in and desserts to chill in as fast as 15 minutes!

Cool Down Mode

As the name suggests, this mode helps you to cool down hot food, including baby formula/food, in a matter of minutes.

It’s also handy if you’re planning on setting aside a portion for later, since you don’t have to leave it out to cool before storing it in the fridge.

2. Technology that can keep food in a soft-frozen state (which, surprisingly, has multiple benefits!)

Before you get to cooking a meat dish, you usually have to give it time to defrost overnight. That’s where Panasonic’s fridges, designed to include Prime Fresh technology, come in to free up your time.

“I use [the Prime Fresh compartment] to soft-freeze meat that I know I’ll cook in four to five days because I won’t need to thaw them. I think that’s the best compartment in the fridge.” – Homeowner Makiyo

This compartment soft-freezes meat and fish lightly at -3 degrees Celsius to minimise cell damage and oxidation. This means the food stays fresh without losing flavour or nutrients for a week.

You can easily cut meat without defrosting it because the soft-freezing process keeps the meat at a texture that’s firm, but not too hard.

3. Technology that minimises bacteria growth in the fridge to keep groceries fresh longer

Besides the various freezing modes we’ve highlighted, Panasonic’s fridges come with nanoe™ X technology that radiates nano-sized ions. These ions break down pesticides in fruits and veggies (fresh salad, anyone?), inhibit bacteria growth on food and fridge walls, and deodorise the air to get rid of funky odours.

The nanoe™ X particles in the fridge are water particles containing a large quantity of highly reactive hydroxyl molecules, which react easily with a variety of substances.

Moisture control filters in the airtight Fresh Safe compartment also automatically adjust the humidity level to about 90% to help to keep fruits and vegetables as fresh and crisp as the day you bought them.
