We teamed up with The MeatMen and find out more about their dream kitchen and what recipes pair perfectly with these interiors. So what are you waiting for? Start reading and get cooking!
In terms of the ideal kitchen, everyone has a preference no doubt. For people like us who love cooking and food sharing, one of the first point is that it has got to have plenty of space and light. As a consideration, we would think stretching the kitchen to the dining area would be an awesome must-have. It’s simply great to be able to cook, eat and hang out all at the same time, much like the idea of having a chef's table in a restaurant where it’s open to everyone what's cooking.
Here are some ideas on how to deck out a workhorse kitchen that could stand up to the rigours of a MasterChef cookout night. We have paired some of our favourite appliances with your equally favourite recipes.
###Kitchen island for working your doughs
It'll be noteworthy to have yourself a kitchen island, which provides not only extra cooking space, but extra storage (think a mini wine-chiller or shelf storage) as well.
Preferably, we would opt for a wood lacquer finish mixed with a marble top for both function and form. A marble top will be ideal for working on your doughs such as pasta making and desserts. Simply add seats and you'll have a counter top.
Pair it with:
Crème Brûlée
Crack into this classic dessert for the sweet-toothed. ** Caution! As tempted as you are, do not lick the screen.*
Chorizo Ravioli
Making ravioli from scratch takes practice, practice, practice. But the rewards are worth it.
###Pantry shelving to keep supplies in track
Dedicating a full length's space of cabinets, coupled with extensive shelving acting as a pantry, keeps track of your supplies. The better you know them, the wiser you use them. Nothing beats baking a lemon drizzle cake in a well stocked pantry.
Pair it with:
Lemon Drizzle Cake
One slice of this citrus delight is never enough!
###Well-appointed appliances to serve your needs
A wall-mounted oven is a must-have! A proper oven gives you options when you cook, and it helps that induction cooking is the safer choice these days. That said, we still prefer to have ourselves the good old stove top, as we strongly believe that flame creates flavour.
A full-sized fridge with a single door is our choice as that would provide space for storing those larger party items – like your chunk of roast beef or a whole turkey.
Pair it with:
Roast Pork Belly
We wouldn’t really be The MeatMen without this meaty dish.
Prawn Paste Chicken
Crispy on the outside and juicy flavours on the inside, one bite will leave you wanting more.
###White, black and wood for modern warmth
Aesthetics-wise, the combination of white, black and wood finishes brings across the touch of a modern and warm kitchen. It helps to have sufficient wooden or stone serving boards, as they give your food that rustic charm.
There are always going to be an endless amount of gadgets that we can add to our kitchen. But in our opinion, having a modern yet simple rustic kitchen, with the proper stoves and oven is still essential to building that dream kitchen.
Pair it with:
Roast Lamb With Saffron Rice
While preparation for this dish does take a fair bit of time, every bite of the flavourful rice is worth it.
