The ultimate addition to your kitchen.
With its ultra-sleek silhouette and best-in-class technology, Wells The One has established itself as a go-to water purifier for Singapore’s homes. And it just got even better. You now have the option of getting it together with the newly launched (and already award-winning!) Wells Home Café, a coffee and tea capsule machine that uses purified water to brew your favourite beverages.
We headed down to the Wells Experience Centre at Tradehub 21 for a live product demonstration – and here’s our review.
Wells Home Café coffee and tea capsule machine
First impressions
Singapore’s homes are getting smaller. Naturally, the first thing that stood out to us is that this 3-in-1 appliance reduces clutter by eliminating the need for multiple appliances to dispense purified water and brew coffee/tea. Aside from saving countertop space, its contemporary aesthetic makes for a statement piece, guaranteed to be a conversation starter when you have guests over.
And yes, any Nespresso-compatible capsule can be used here, so you won’t have any issues finding your favourite flavours from neighbourhood supermarkets!
Dual extraction feature
As avid (picky) coffee/tea drinkers, one concern we had was the mixing of flavours, given that both beverages are dispensed from the same machine.
This was put to rest when the team showed us that the Wells Home Café has not one, but two interchangeable capsule drawers. More importantly, coffee and tea are dispensed via separate channels.
Once the capsule is placed in the drawer, select your caffeine strength (ristretto, espresso or lungo for coffee; strong, medium or light for tea) via the dial, and voilà.
Sounds easy enough to operate for mornings when your brain hasn’t fully ‘woken up’ yet.
Maintenance required
Aside from getting your coffee/tea in just seconds, another thing we love is that it’s easy to clean.
Simply empty the pod from the capsule drawer, and run the latter under running water after use. The appliance will alert you to clean the machine after 10 extractions, but you are, of course, free to do so more often if you prefer.
For existing Wells The One users
Existing owners of Wells The One water purifiers will also be pleased to know that you can easily upgrade your appliance to this new dynamic duo. Just contact the sales team at Wells, and they’ll make arrangements for a change of docking station upon installation – no additional countertop drilling nor piping required.
In fact, everything else with your existing Wells The One filtration system and dispensing unit setup will remain the same.
The new Wells Experience Centre at Tradehub21
While we were there, we also took the opportunity to learn more about Wells’ products, as well as water purifiers in general.
For instance, did you know that the cooling system your water dispenser uses can affect the amount of time taken for cold water to dispense, as well as energy consumption (i.e. your electricity bill)?
It was also useful in getting a better understanding of what microbes get filtered by Wells’ appliances, and the importance of each stage of filtration. After all, you’ll want to know what goes – and more importantly, doesn’t go – into your body.
Our tip: don’t just stay on the first level though. Head up to the second floor where you’ll get to visualise how different Wells appliances could look like on your kitchen or island countertop.
You may also wish to discuss placement based on your floor plan and lifestyle needs, since the experts at Wells are best placed to shed light on this.
P.S. there is also a photo op area with a bejewelled display of all its colourways!
Head down to try Wells Home Café
