JOW Architects has been approached by a couple with one young child to provide full scope interior design service for the fitting out works to their apartment of 1500sqft. All aspects of the home – including bathrooms, joinery, lighting and furniture were designed to reflect a contemporary lifestyle. The apartment is envisioned as a warm and welcoming sanctuary for the owners who travel rather extensively. The deliberate selection of warm brown tones in varying shades for the surface treatment aims to evoke a state of restfulness within the spaces. An intentional physical separator in the form of a floor to ceiling customised walnut timber veneer panelled doors cum concealed storage spaces, delineates the living and dining areas (outer sanctuary) from the private bedrooms (inner sanctuary) further reinforce the idea of a sanctuary where spaces are attributed with different degrees of privacy.
