About Urban Home Design 二本設計家

The core of URBAN Home Design is formed by a group of graduates with BA Hons in Engineering and experienced Interior Designers. The company founder was raised in a contractor family. Being a contractor’s daughter, she is able to appreciate the beauty of construction better than most people. What inspired her to start this business is nothing but a phrase from her father “A cloth will remain cloth without a tailor and a good contractor turns a house to HOME”. As the tailor of your house, we strive to turn a house to your HOME by providing our professional services with U.R.B.A.N principles U – Understanding (we will find out homeowner’s requirements before design and make sure homeowner understand our design before construct) R – Reliable (workmanship of our contractor are reliable and warranty will be given) B – Buildable (we study the space constraint and existing condition to make sure all our design are buildable according to drawings agreed by homeowner) A – Affordable (quality & cost-effective with proper planning allow a professional service at an affordable price) N – Necessity (our proposal will be balanced on both aesthetically and functionality)

Fantastic experience with Urban

Reviewed by Raine・Submitted 4 Dec 2022・ Project completed Oct 2022・Designer Chai Hwa and Zedric

We had a tight timeline for renovation of our new home as we needed to move out of our previous place within a deadline. One of our criteria was to find an ID who was not overloaded with projects and could complete as scheduled and could understand the look and feel that we wanted - Scandinavian Minimalist. We short listed a few from Qanvast and sent them enquiries through the platform and Urban was the first one who responded by email and whatsapp. They asked for us to elaborate more on what we were looking for and had guiding questions to help us describe our needs. Soon after that they scheduled a first meetup with us. With their earnestness and quick replies we were already quite positive about them before we went for the first meetup. During the first meetup we were even more delighted that they had already done up some 3D drawings based on our initial requests and spent a lot of time during the meeting explaining their way of doing things and style. We had at least 3 hours of discussion where we found that they understood what we were looking for and we could communicate on the same “wavelength” which was very important to us! Along the renovation journey we had frequent meetings almost every other weekend. As we wanted to keep things simple and didn’t want to “over-design” the place, Chai Hwa and Zedric fully understood that and balanced out between their design suggestions and the simpler look and feel we wanted. As we got closer to finalising the designs Chai Hwa and Zedric accompanied us to multiple places to select tiles, lights, accessories and our wood flooring. There were various choices some of which were suitable and some which weren’t and we appreciated that there was no “hard-selling” or pushing of certain vendors but they allowed us space to make our own choices. In the end we used a mix of the suggested vendors and our own purchases of smaller items. The vendors they recommended worked very well with them which contributed to a very smooth process during the actual process of renovation. We also really appreciate that they had to spend so much of their time shopping/meeting with us as it really shows that they are going the extra mile in their service. The renovation schedule was presented to us before we collected keys so we had a good idea of the timeline and it was completed almost on time with only a few small delays that were undoubtedly expected. After the main renovation was completed there were still some small adjustments needed and a few changes we asked for as one or two minor design items were misunderstood by their subcontractors. They promptly rectified and reinstalled the items within our expectations. All in all we were very satisfied with everything presented and delivered to us from Day 1 from their service-oriented philosophy and keen and sincere attitude. I highly recommend anyone who are considering Urban to go ahead with them as I’m very sure you will not be disappointed. Now that we have settled in we just need to tidy up the place and take some nice photos to showcase their brilliant work!
