Renovation Journey: Pink of Health

With the belief that a home should not be designed to look like a hotel room, Zhihao and Wan Fang were determined to have a homely place where they could comfortably relax and unwind in, sipping wine or working out.

We sat down for a quick chat with the couple and get them to share their thoughts on why a cosy home is best.

Renovation Journey: Pink of Health

Qanvast: What was the concept behind your home?

Wan Fang (WF): As my husband travels a lot for work, we wanted a home which feels very homely and comfortable so that whenever we are home, we can just relax and unwind. It was important for our home to be designed in such a way that it emanates warmth. We wanted a home that was very bright and clean.

Qanvast: What gave Sharon a competitive edge over the other interior designers that you had met?

Renovation Journey: Pink of Health

WF: We felt that there was a gap in communication when we were interacting with most of the interior designers that we had met. For instance, we would say that we wanted something done in a particular manner and the designs which they came back with showed that they misunderstood our brief.

Zhihao (ZH): However, things were totally different with Sharon. Besides explaining her ideas to us, Sharon was also able to sketch out her ideas on the spot. From this, we could tell that she was very experienced.

Qanvast: How did Sharon contribute to your smooth renovation journey?

WF: Along the way, we made a lot of changes to our original design but it did not affect the pace of the renovation as Sharon was very quick in re-doing her 3D design and executing the changes.

Qanvast: What would you say is Sharon’s outstanding quality as an interior designer?

ZH: Sharon was proactive in coming up with designs even when we did not prompt her to do so. She would also take the initiative to improve on her original designs. Design-wise, we felt that she really went the extra mile for us.

Qanvast: Tell us more about the thought that went into furnishing your home.

ZH: Our pink sofa is from Danish Design. It was the very first furniture that we bought. I fell in love with it at first sight.

WF: My husband really likes wood and our furniture purchases are more woody.

Qanvast: Do you have any advice for young homeowners?

ZH: Start finding interior designers early and make sure that you visit a couple of firms before settling on one.

WF: It’s important to find an interior designer that you can click with because you will be working closely with your interior designer for the entire renovation project. If you cannot click with your interior designer, the entire renovation journey will be very hard. Find an interior designer who can understand what you need and who is open to discussion.
