The Most-Liked Homes on Qanvast’s Instagram in 2023

Interiors you couldn’t get enough of this year.

We’ve all done this before: telling ourselves we’d sleep early, only to spend the next two hours scrolling through Instagram and TikTok (teehee).

By way of recapping what’s kept you up at night (in the best way possible) this year, here’s a look back at the most-liked homes on our Instagram page in 2023.

P.S. if you aren’t already following Qanvast on Instagram, you should!

Previously living in a 4-room BTO that their family was quickly outgrowing, the owners of this jumbo flat in Marsiling weren’t about to let a structural pillar get in the way of their dream home.

Instead, they turned it into the centrepiece of their new home by building a massive, irregularly shaped kitchen island around it!

Spaciousness aside, it’s also giving hipster cafe vibes and has a lush garden for an entryway – making it easy to see why it takes the top spot.

Double-height windows are rare in Singapore. So, when the owners got the keys to this Tampines maisonette, they went to great lengths (including getting special approval from HDB and hiring a crane!) to install large format window panes to really get that California casual look.

Now bathed in natural light with a show-stopping balcony area, we’d have to say that the results were undoubtedly worth it.

As one of the most coveted types of HDB flats in Singapore, it’s easy to see why you guys love maisonettes so much. That said, it takes more than that to earn a spot in this list.

Adopting a modern interpretation of the rustic farmhouse look, this airy 147sqm maisonette in Hougang ticks all the boxes when it comes to its owners’ needs. But its standout feature? A unique double-height alcove by the balcony that they’ve turned into a cosy reading nook.

Regular HDB flats can look just as fabulous as their king-sized counterparts like those above, though.

Case in point: this 5-room resale flat in Tampines that became a crowd favourite not because of its physical size, but because virtually every non-structural wall in it was hacked and replaced with lattice glass doors.

Curtains were then installed to afford the owners privacy when needed. Then, at all other times, it looks seriously massive because you get to see the entire unit from one end to another. How cool is that?

With minimal built-ins and study room walls replaced with glass doors, this 5-room BTO in Punggol Northshore is equal parts picturesque and cosy, designed with its unblocked seaview in mind.

Suffice to say, the owners have definitely succeeded in doing so. Just look at how beautifully the light filters in in the morning and evening alike!
