Project Details
The owner, being a French art curator, wanted the apartment to double up as a partial gallery for her various artwork.
We started by viewing the nostalgic apartment as a piece of artwork itself; uncovering the history of the physical surfaces more than applying new surfaces to the existing elements. The sensitivity to the context becomes our key concern.
Existing plaster was hacked off to expose bricks featuring the brand “Tung San”, concrete beams and columns were stripped off to expose the texture of the concrete aggregate, contrasting with the smooth new finishes, including the black cement screed floor introduced. The owner, being a French art curator, wanted the apartment to double up as a partial gallery for her various artwork.
