We shortlisted Prozfile amongst other designers on Qanvast, as we felt that their style was aligned to what we were looking for. After meeting multiple firms, we decided to engage with them as they were patient with our timeline and requirements, and our interior designer was willing to go above and beyond in helping us source for certain furnishings and items. But ultimately we felt that we had great chemistry with our designer, and overall, the renovation - though without its hitches - was relatively smooth sailing, and she was accommodating to our needs for extension and helped to oversee the entire renovation adeptly.

The first meeting that we had with the ten to fifteen interior designers that we met showed which designers understood our aesthetic and which of them didn’t. We gave our brief to all the designers and some of them came back with industrial themed designs even though that was not what we wanted. We could also sense that some of the designers were not comfortable with what we wanted so that was another red flag. Out of the rest, Alvin was the only one who went one step further by advising us on what could and could not be done in a HDB home. This showed us that he has a good understanding of the renovation process and that we could rely on him for technical expertise. Alvin also understood our design concept and was able to recommend some architects that we could refer to. Overall, we also had chemistry with him and felt that he could trust him to execute what we wanted him to do. The design of our bedroom also shows Alvin’s attention to detail. We were worried that there might be a lack of space if we went with this idea but Alvin came up with smart designs like the drawers from underneath the bed which open up into the wardrobe area. His designs were unique and helped us to maximise space. His design ideas, responsibility as an interior designer and the quality of his carpentry were really top notch. His project management was also on point. He’s someone we would definitely recommend wholeheartedly. His design for our home really exceeded my expectations and overall, we were very pleased.

I wanted an interior designer who had experience in designing a shophouse apartment and who has good design ideas. Out of all the options I had, Cadine gave me the best impression. Even though she had not worked on shophouses before, she knew what she was doing and I could tell that she was more experienced than the other designers as she was able to make off the cuff suggestions when I directed my questions towards her. I told all the interior designers that I met that I wanted a mezzanine for the bedroom and Cadine was the only one who gave me the confidence that she was capable of building the loft without incurring a lot of additional costs. As compared to the other interior designers who told me that they had to seek for approval which would cost an additional $10,000 to $15,000, Cadine’s idea involved building a sort of ‘large table’ upon which my room would be built. I felt that she knew the renovation rules and regulations well and this allowed her to play around with the rules when coming up with the loft for my home. As I was busy with work, I could not manage the entire project on my own and in that sense, Cadine really helped me a lot by taking on responsibility for the entire renovation and making frequent trips down to my house to check up on the progress of the renovation. Whenever there were any issues, I could text her and she would assist me in rectifying the problem. As compared to my previous renovation experiences, working with Cadine was a more relaxed experience. I know that I’m not always the easiest person to deal with but Cadine just rolled with it. She was very accommodating and was willing to make adjustments to her designs based on my feedback. One thing that can be improved would be her communications. We were looking forward to moving in but she did not update us on the delay, and at times we were left wondering why certain works were not yet done. Other than that, we’re all good. Even two months after the renovation, she will still support us in the rectifications.

Javin is one of the 5 recommended IDs from Qanvast whom I met up. She took the time to understand my requirements and didnt give me a template design. I went to a few IDs and they showed me the template design and got me to pick and choose the design. I wasn't into cookie cutter design. I wanted a design which represent me and I asked Javin to propose after our meet up. One of the unique part of my house is the geometric feature wall, I know most people do not appreciate black colour as a huge part of the living space, I really like it! To be honest, I travelled alot and was really busy at work during the renovation period, so I left the renovation to Javin to handle. I am very please with the result of the renovation. Of course, there is always room for improvement, one of the thing is that she can improve on the management of the schedule and contractors better. All in all, Javin is very responsive, prompt when it comes to rectification.
