About Free Space Intent

Established in 1999, Free Space Intent (FSI) is a full-service residential and commercial interior design firm. With 2 decades of experience under our belt, we have worked with a large variety of private and corporate clients, creating a wide range of residential spaces, bars/lounges, restaurants, retail outlets, and office spaces. Our aim is to provide distinctive, customized interiors while remaining sensitive to every client’s budget and time constraints. The purest form of beauty lies in the raw basics. Free Space Intent (FSI) espouses designs that speak of timeless elegance, defined grace and modern functionality. This down-to-earth approach is clearly marked by clean lines, muted shades and clever space planning to suit the cosmopolitan lifestyles. Celebrating the notion of going back to the bare essentials, FSI creates urban retreats that soothe the senses and rejuvenate the tired soul. Always an active hub of fresh designs, FSI plays along boundaries that are untouched by many, creating homes with a strong presence and personality.

Bespoke designs, high quality and strong delivery outcomes

Reviewed by Jason Png・Submitted 29 May 2023・ Project completed Apr 2023・Designer Raymond Seow

We worked with Raymond, Perlinda and Aaron from Freespace Intent (FSI) for our Renovation Project. We never looked back. This team provides so much assurance in terms of design, quality and peace of mind for busy families or people who cannot oversee their housing project. In short, this team delivers what was promised. No regrets. Only complaint – not the mass market pricing or for those light on budget. Don’t expect discounts. Instead look at delivery. We shortlisted FSI amongst a number of other firms which were recommended by Qanvast based on our preference and inputs. We called the firms up and met the designers either in-person or over zoom. We wanted to check the chemistry between ourselves and the designer as well as to see what are some of the preliminary thoughts they would have for our new place. We like people who can think out of the box as our place has a number of constrains. We would not want cookie-cutter designs and also "yes-man" designers. We like our designer to challenge our thinking and can integrate common sense to beautiful aesthetics to suit our lifestyle. We are a small family with young kid. We like our place to be bold, aesthetical pleasing and yet practical (yes. Lots of storage needs). FSI designs homes as if it is for themselves. The FSI team truly understand our needs. Raymond shares openly and make suggestions about technology, lighting and proposes exciting conceptual designs for our new place. Like many new home owners, we tend to get overly excited about the design and perhaps overboard at times. Raymond was patient and worked with us to explain the whys and the why-nots. Aaron puts the concepts to perspectives so as to help us visualise the design. I lost count how many times Aaron accommodated our many requests to change the colours and designs. Some were radical changes (some were discarded even after painful hard work) and some were tweaks until we are finally happy to what we see. Late night meetings are common at FSI. Raymond and Aaron are always around for these critical meetings. We had a timeline to meet. The team understood our challenge notstanding the renovation process cutting into festive period like Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year. Perlinda is a very important and critical person to see through the execution. She is our dedicated project manager at the site. The person whom we reach out often on big and small issues (no issues are too small) and the one who update us regularly on the renovation progress. Perlinda is practical and patient and always ready to address our queries. She is definitely a problem solver for all the issues and thinks out of the box. We lean on her heavily throughout the renovation process. She manages the contractors well and ensures timely completion to meet the timeline. Last but not least, FSI’s team of contractors offer high quality and good services. Their suppliers also provide great service and good recommendations. Again, not the mass market pricing but not overboard. We will ask Raymond and Perlinda about a problem and they will usually have someone/contractor in mind to recommend. Overall, we are highly satisfied with our renovation. The finished product looks very close to the proposed perspective. Since moving in the new place for about one month, we are very happy with our place and won’t hesitate to recommend the FSI teams to anyone looking for bespoke designs, high quality and strong delivery outcomes. Thank you team for the hard work.
