Over promised and Under delivered

Reviewed by Sofia・Submitted 20 Aug 2021・Project completed Dec 2017・Designer Thomas

We renovated our resale HDB flat in 2014. Our experience during that time with Thomas was a pleasant one. He was patient and took into consideration alot of our ideas and suggestions. He also recommended several shops/ companies where we could get the items we would need for our home. However, a few years down the road we started to realise alot of issues: 1. Crack was noticed in a kitchen tile and when we requested to replace, Thomas mentioned he will have to remove all the built in kitchen cabinets and he cannot be responsible for their damage. 2. Windows are poorly installed; water would leak in during heavy rain 3. We wanted to change the old toilet bowls and had purchased the entire set (toilet bowl and pan collar) however the new seal we bought was not used. And we only realised this 3 years down the road when our toilet started having a foul smell/ leaking and we replaced a new toilet bowl, did the new plumber informed us of this (where did the 2 pan collars we purchased go to??) Fuse concept simply told us warranty was up and they could not do anything. 4. We purchased lights from a lighting shop recommended by Thomas. My husband specifically ask for and paid for a single large LED strip for the ceiling light, but today, 7 years later, after our light spoilt and we had to open it to change did we realised they installed 2 small LED strips instead of 1 large one, which is cheaper, but very dangerous because it might lead to overheating. We were new home owners and did not know what to look out for. The initial service might be good, but please do make checks during the Reno works to ensure that you are really getting what you paid for!
