About Happe Design Atelier

Rather than having homeowners change the way they live, Happe Design Atelier wants to adapt interiors so that the spaces become the answers to homeowners’ needs. Specialising in architecture, interior/ branding consulting and property servicing respectively, friends-turned-founders Choo Yih, Kelvyn and Ean couldn’t be more different. “Our skills are varied, but complementary,” shares Choo Yih. “Compliance, aesthetics, and project management – we combined our fortes to craft better, more thoughtful spaces.”

I came to know of Happe Design Atelier when I visited my friend's housewarming party where Happe helped to renovate. What caught my eye is the timeless modern design and quality carpentry work. When I bought a 4room resales apartment, I engaged Happe for their ID consultation. During the first meet-up, Ean took the time to understand my needs and idea for the house. Like a true designer, he suggested to invert the usual living room layout. With this change, this resales flat apartment feels new and modern. He opted for a darker/neutral palette (black, dark grey, light grey and wood) - which most people might not like. However, the color scheme suits my personality. He treated this renovation like an artist creating his latest masterpiece. I decided to start renovation in the midst of COVID-19 lockdown - 'good timing right. It started during phase 2. Kelvyn took over due to the lockdown as Ean is stuck overseas during this COVID lockdown. He is prompt and meticulous during the whole process. He also thought about the user experience. He suggested several 'quality of life' changes which as a first time owner I am unaware of. There are many horror stories, where the ID will ask for a top-up or hardsell in the midst of the renovation. This didn't happen with Kelvyn. Like most renovation, there might be some unseen changes, esp in a resale flat. If there is a need to make a decision, he will explain the situation logically and allow me to make the final decision. ie - to hide the wires in the living room or install a trunking to keep the terrazzo or overlay with concrete vinyl to box up the toilet or not I didn't feel pressured to make certain decisions at all. Despite this COVID-19 situation, Kelvyn is able to deliver within the timeframe. The whole renovation took 2 months, during this COVID-19 period, which is amazing. He didn't call to ask for any extension or to 'explain' the situation so that I have to accept any defects. He has anticipated and solved the problems in advance. this is the result of great project management skills. As a busy professional, I do not have the time conduct frequent site visits. The workmanship of the carpentry and cement screed is of top quality. I couldn't find a fault even after several visits to the site. From my understanding, Kelvyn will reject any poor workmanship in advance. Because of his high standards, this renovation is a breeze for me. I definitely recommend Happy Design Atelier.
