5-room HDB designed by JOW Architects

Project Details

This apartment was designed for a young couple with two young children. The design aims not only to fulfill the essential needs of the owner, such as ample concealed storage spaces, a main gathering space for the extended family, and defined private and public areas where the family can commune daily, but it is driven by a deeper intent to achieve a sense of spatial openness and visual simplicity. Light oak timber and white colour millwork formed the two main materials used throughout the design. This neutral material palette was thoughtfully selected with the owner to reinforce the design intent. Large openings in the form of transparent glass sliding doors were strategically inserted into existing walls to create a daylight filled central dining space, and these openings also allows for effective cross ventilation throughout the apartment, imbuing in this apartment an overall sense of well-being.
