Reviewed by Jun Hao・Submitted 19 Mar 2023・ Project completed Jun 2022・Designer Jing Yi

We engaged Starry Homestead about 1 year ago around Feb 2022 when we were about to collect our BTO keys. The ID assigned to us was Jing Yi from the Paya Lebar showroom. It was a pretty decent experience at first - replies were fast and follow ups were timely etc even though we didn’t have a very high budget. Hence, we decided to go with them after comparing a few IDs. As expected, things started going downhill once we signed the contract. Overall, project management of the whole renovation was super poor. Every time a job is done, we had to personally head down to our flat to check for errors, take photos and send them to the ID. So many issues with the jobs, but the ID never once pointed them out when she was there. We had to tell her and show her where all the errors were. Not sure if we hired a ID as a project manager to just someone to pass message lol.. It was a tiring 4-5 months.. Plenty of mistakes throughout the whole renovation, but I will just list down a few.. 1. There were only 3x 3D drawings allowed for the project and 2/3 of the drawings were wrong despite stating down clearly what we wanted to change for the next drawing. 2. 40% of the Carpentry works were nonsense. Did not follow the measurements as discussed and were different from the drawings provided etc. Laminate were poorly pasted, scratched, or broken. Huge gaps left behind the walls because they measured the dimensions wrongly. I am really not sure how they communicated with carpenter but there was at least 5-6 trips arranged to rectify the mistakes yet it was still not properly done. Best part is the ID can still send us photos as if the carpentry was intended to be like this. Decided to have them refund us partial of the money or else we will need to wait again. 3. Wrong installation of bathroom fittings. Another poor workmanship contractor that they are working with. My bathroom tiles have at least 4 holes that are left behind due to their wrong installation. And nothing was communicated to us, until we went down to check. Vanity cabinet was also installed wrongly for the 2 bathrooms, but ID argued that it was correct, even though we already labelled the items properly and send it over on WhatsApp. 4. I really don’t know why the ID went to arrange for a gas pipe installation when we already told her we will be using induction hob since the very start. Caused so much unnecessary holes on the kitchen/service yard walls and tiles… Throughout the months after moving in, we are still constantly spotting issues (faulty powerpoints, painting touch up etc) with the renovation and have to constantly contact the ID to arrange for their contractors to come down. As expected, replies are slow, had to constantly chase for her to reply and arrange. Until now, I still a kitchen tap replacement that is not settled since December. We have given up already. Just thought of sharing our personal experience with Starry Homestead.
