About Urban Home Design 二本設計家

The core of URBAN Home Design is formed by a group of graduates with BA Hons in Engineering and experienced Interior Designers. The company founder was raised in a contractor family. Being a contractor’s daughter, she is able to appreciate the beauty of construction better than most people. What inspired her to start this business is nothing but a phrase from her father “A cloth will remain cloth without a tailor and a good contractor turns a house to HOME”. As the tailor of your house, we strive to turn a house to your HOME by providing our professional services with U.R.B.A.N principles U – Understanding (we will find out homeowner’s requirements before design and make sure homeowner understand our design before construct) R – Reliable (workmanship of our contractor are reliable and warranty will be given) B – Buildable (we study the space constraint and existing condition to make sure all our design are buildable according to drawings agreed by homeowner) A – Affordable (quality & cost-effective with proper planning allow a professional service at an affordable price) N – Necessity (our proposal will be balanced on both aesthetically and functionality)

The best ID experience I've ever had.
verified-reviewVerified Review

Reviewed by Lizzy Lee・Submitted 19 May 2022・ Project completed Apr 2022・Designer Chai Hwa & Francis

This is the second home we are renovating (both times we have engaged IDs and liaised with many different IDs to find one we wanted to work with), and I can say without a doubt that our experience with Urban Home is the best we've ever had. Consultation stage: As you would see from the other reviews, our IDs Chai Hwa and Francis came very prepared with a 2D/3D pitch that we were able to talk through on the spot. Immediately they were able to advise on whether some of what we wanted to do was feasible based on space planning needs, and were able to make edits/changes on the spot so that we could visualize things immediately based on the actual dimensions of our floor plan and layout. We were very impressed from the first meeting. Pre-renovation stage: Again, Urban Design is one of the most well-prepared and meticulous ID firms I have ever encountered. As designers ourselves, we are very particular about many details and it was very assuring to work with someone like Chai Hwa who was possibly even more detail-oriented and particular than us. Both her and Francis were also very on the ball and always contactable to provide updates to quotes, questions and anything we needed to ask. Our layout/decisions also went through many iterations at this stage and they gamely went along with us as we ideated, plotting it into their 2D/3D models to help us be able to visualize and make quick decisions on whether those were good ideas/feasible or not. Renovation period: Very responsible and meticulous with minimal delays (except for when subcontractors had covid and had to delay certain parts of the process, which was unavoidable). Can tell that they have very good relationships with their contractors/electricians/carpenters etc, which made the working relationship a lot easier. It was a breeze working with Chai Hwa because most of the time, she was even more on the ball than we were to get the project completed in a timely manner, even though ours was quite a major overhaul that included full hacking of the floor, walls, moving walls, a heap of carpentry, etc. Any defects or mistakes we spotted along the way were very quickly rectified. She was always available and contactable and we had full trust that the project was being handled well in a timely manner. Also during renovation, there are many small details that are added, changed or commented on along the way and Chai Hwa was always quick to follow up on them without dropping any along the way. Aftersales: Chai Hwa has remained very contactable even after the project has been fully paid off whenever we had any issues (e.g. carpentry doors that didn't close properly, minor leak in toilet, etc). Their sub-contractors are able to rectify the issues within days and we always felt taken care of. Conclusion: I could not recommend Urban Home enough. In fact, I have recommended them to many friends but their schedule is always so full! So if you're fortunate enough to be able to secure an appointment with them, GO FOR IT!
