I took to Qanvast to arrange 5 IDs and another 2 IDs from another platform. I throughly interviewed all 7 IDs extensively (2-3 times for each ID), vetted their past work, throwing difficult questions to test their competency, then filling in conceptually what my wife and I preferred, what convenience the design ought to bring, what aspects of designs/houses on Qanvast’s database that we were not impressed, and even offered IDs to tour our former home to better their understanding. I regarded myself as detailed, and I think I was not easy to work with, because I expected a lot. As with owners, we needed an ID to hear what we want, to put themselves in our shoes. After 5-6 interviews, you kinda understand the market rate, have a good sense whether the ID can or cannot deliver, and it was disappointing to painfully go through the process with some IDs from seemingly large companies. Alas, out of 7 IDs, Catherine from Project Guru stood out so brilliantly. At the interview, she was not only able to provide reasonably technical solutions, she was able to answer all my questions, whatever was thrown to her. Catherine was attentive to every detail, even suggest better solutions, materials, color combi which wows. We always said Catherine “Hao” as in the Chinese 好! If you are wondering if these suggestions means a bigger price tag, the straight up answer is ‘No’. We are so blessed that she took it upon herself to continue sourcing for cheaper/ better products, even after we have confirm the design and approach. Throughout the 2 months work, we didn’t felt rushed or compelled to decide quickly. We felt so assured all the way, every remedial action was taken care off, every progress track and reported frequently (with photos and videos). We have extended Catherine’s contact to at least 4 other friends who were impressed with our house. We highly recommend Project Guru and Catherine Hao!
