My husband and I were very excited to get our new place and had prepared an ideal home deck — which we then shared with a couple of IDs but we ended up going ahead with Rachel & Shawn from MET mostly for their aesthetics sense and how they proposed thoughtful solutions (which none of the other IDs did), even though our budget was not a large sum. Rachel was very responsive throughout the entire reno journey, and was very insightful in sharing her thoughts and experience in planning our home. She even went out of her way to help source for furnitures that complement the look and feel of our home and that was something we really really appreciated. Even when issues popped up, herself and her team of contractors would have them looked into/resolved as soon as they can. She also reassured us that if there is any concern /problems we find out after shifting in, we can still contact her - which we are also very grateful for :) All in all, no regrets choosing Rachel & MET for designing our home ❤️

My renovation project was a small one: sprucing up the living and dining area, as well as my daughter’s room. Previously, I had renovated the 2 toilets and kitchen with another ID, and those guys were not keen on following through ay interior decorating to completion. Right at the outset, while looking for a new ID, many were simply just disinterested in the small brief. MET interior’s Umeko Wong was the only one who displayed sincere enthusiasm for the brief during pitch. What impressed me was the fact that her enthusiasm, professionalism, patience and commitment to quality have never wavered during the project to completion, despite the small scope of work. That speaks volumes of her excellent work ethic and positive attitude towards any situation. Highly recommended, and in fact, do wish that I had known of MET interior for my original large reno works. 1. Communication was good – Umeko was attentive and patient, suggesting design ideas, yet prioritising client’s wants / vision and working hard to making these a reality. (after a long search for a wallpaper – she ended up having to help customise the print, making the patterns and matching colours.) 2. Attention to detail, finding solutions that work and within budget. And working things to completion despite the numerous additional work orders (helped to make my wall cross with fairy lights a reality, and made sure to pros and cons and necessary to dos for various option in design, materials, etc – which really aided in decision making! There are some IDs who simply provide 2 options (one really good and the other really poor) and have an all-or-nothing attitude, which kind of “forces” the client to a somewhat begrudgingly accept the obviously “good one”.) 3. Quality subcontractors with good supervision from Umeko – painters, electricians, carpenter, air con servicing, – all highly committed to delivering a good outcome for clients. There’s a sense of reliability one gets from the works (esp. when you see the air con guy saying with pride that “there are many other guys who just do a 10 min job and don’t properly dismantle and clean the interior of the machine”, or the painter who repaints some small parts of the kids’ wooden furniture “I usually work on much larger hotel projects” but then goes on to explain the paint type and how to DIY in future in case the kids end up scratching the paintwork) – that’s just priceless. Having gone through the renovation experience with 2 different IDs – and leaving a review for only one of them – MET interior’s Umeko Woon, I would conclude that reviews matter. I’m taking the time to thoughtfully write this (a good 20 mins) because I am truly thankful to Umeko and very satisfied with her work and her commitment to see things through to completion despite this being a really small project.

We shortlisted Shawn's firm after meeting a number of IDs. We were impressed by his design acumen, and his willingness to listen to our requests and bounce his ideas with us accordingly. He was friendly and displayed adaptability, in modifying his proposals to meet our practical needs. Throughout the renovation process, we found that Shawn was very responsible, honest and upfront with us. He remained professional and accommodating of our budget, ready to rectify and follow up on most of the inevitable issues that surfaced. Although there can be some room for improvement in the area of project management, we appreciated how Shawn was responsive and open to our feedback. We also liked how he shared his recommendations for home fittings, but was not insistent on them -- we were glad to have the liberty to source for some of our own. Also, our impression is that the contractors Shawn worked with were diligent and reliable. We are most thankful to have Shawn design and oversee our home renovation, and are now enjoying every day in our new home! If you're looking for an ID with fantastic design sense, honesty and responsibility, look no further!
