Resale 4-Rm Renovation

Reviewed by Calvin Ping・Submitted 5 Aug 2022・ Project completed Jun 2022・Designer Irwin Lam

We engaged Irwin Lam (ChengYi Interior Design) for our 4room flat renovation. This is our first time doing our renovation and irwin manage to give us a peace of mind every step of the way. He is very patient with us and will always find time to do any explanation when we have any query in our renovation. He is also very responsive which we really appreciate. Most of the time we will msg him during midnight when we think of something about our renovation and He will never fail to get back to us the next following day. Despite His busy schedule, He will always heads-up to us Asap. He will also initial onsite video & calls to do any clarifications with us when we are unable to be there at our home. Like all other renovations, there were of course issues that came up along the way, but Irwin is also prompt in resolving any issues that we brought up and give us a detail timeline of rectifying them. We are very please with his professionalism and detail planning for our renovation. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience working with Irwin from ChengYi Interior Design.

Good Vibes

Reviewed by Leong Woon Ching Hannah・Submitted 15 Nov 2023・ Project completed Jul 2023・Designer Joyce

We explored around 8 different IDs before deciding to go with Joyce from ChengYi Interior. They were very transparent with the quote and detailed the per-unit costs so you know exactly what you are paying for. They also had one of the lowest quotes comparatively. Joyce was also very attentive to our requirements and proposed designs that were aligned with our vision for the space. We were also surprised to be provided with 3D drawings even before we signed with ChengYi. So far no other ID firms have provided such service. Overall we felt that we could vibe well with Joyce. She is pretty responsive via WhatsApp throughout the renovation process. She is open to discussion when we propose changes and will advise us accordingly. Joyce was also a great help to us when shopping for lighting and bathroom fittings, as well as tile and laminate selection. Even now, post-reno, she still provides support and follow up when we have any issues. The only gripe we had was on the workmanship for the carpentry, flooring, partition works, and painting which we felt was rather lacking but Joyce did send workers to come back and rectify these areas after we feedback. Raymond, the project manager was also very helpful when we needed help with drilling and putting up artwork. Overall would recommend!

Aesthetically Astute Designer - Our Home Wouldn't Be Great Without Joyce

Reviewed by Trunksandtrees・Submitted 14 Nov 2023・ Project completed Jun 2023・Designer Joyce

Out of all the IDs we met, Joyce from ChengYi Interior Design was the only one who did a 3D mock-up of our home with her suggested design which really showed her earnestness towards our project. On our fourth meet-up, we signed the contract with great confidence and have never looked back or regretted that day. Working with Joyce to build our home was overall an enjoyable and memorable experience. The thing we love the most about Joyce is her eye for design. When it came to selecting tiles, laminates and paint colours, she was able to beautifully piece together these various elements to create a cohesive look for our home. This extended to furniture choices where we were able to consult her for her opinion. Thanks to her attention to detail, we wholeheartedly love the look of our home and give praise to her charming recommendations in terms of aesthetics. One should note that Joyce was not all about design only and was able to balance functionality. She was not afraid to inform us of decisions that could lead to higher maintenance and would offer alternatives to solve such design problems. Her experience shines through in this aspect and we truly value her advice. When it comes to communication, Joyce did well to respond to us by the end of each day. Even if she did overlook one or two things, a little prompting was all that was needed and she was swift to rectify any problems we had. In fact, we had additional requests which involved the help of her team during our renovation. In response, Joyce was ever so helpful to engage them quickly for us to meet our requests. This also leads us to our second main quality that we love about Joyce - the great team that she has. Service was definitely superb as a result of the entire team's effort. First shoutout goes to meticulous Raymond the project manager from ChengYi Interior Design who is also a master of all trades. Apart from being helpful in putting up our paintings, mirrors etc., he made the effort to clean up any wood shavings or small messes he may have made. If he had done any work, it'll seem magically completed like he was never there at all. Secondly would be Wanna who works with the electrician Ah Wei. When it came to installing a fan with mislabelled wires which we bought from Tao Bao, one of Wanna's team members initially informed us the fan was potentially spoiled as it had caused the house's power to trip. However, meticulous Wanna did some trial and error and discovered the mislabelled wires. He then successfully hooked up our fan and even did triple checks to ensure it was working well. His great work ethic helped us save money and resources. Lastly would be James the carpenter who helped to redo our master bedroom doors upon realising they couldn't open fully due to our bed. We are thankful for his resilience and thorough follow-up actions. For workmanship quality, I wouldn't say it was perfect, especially when accounting for human error. For tiling, this included slight uneven tiles between the kitchen and living room and a small chip covered with grouting in the master bathroom. As for carpentry, it's been about 4 months since moving in and two of our shelved wooden planks in the living room have warped slightly. That said, the rest of our carpentry is pretty solid and ChengYi also offers a five year warranty on carpentry hinges, drawer closures, laminates and other mechanisms. The aforementioned issues can be lived with and we are overall contented with the finished elements in our home. In terms of keeping to a timeline, there was a delay of 3 weeks due while waiting for the fabrication of carpentry. We understand that this was a result of a boom in orders when several BTO projects were released at the same time. On our end, this caused some inconvenience as we needed to reschedule our deliveries to accommodate the delay. That said, we were compensated by ChengYi Interior Design for the tardiness and have no further qualms in this matter. With regard to our budget, Joyce was able to keep well within an acceptable range of our proposed sum and even the additional variation orders were not overpriced. We are extremely appreciative of her ability to help manage and execute our project according to our financial expectations and have definitely zero complaints on this front. Moreover, Joyce meticulously updated our quotation upon each revision and we are thankful for her hard work in this area. As the name ChengYi Interior Design suggests, we really could feel the sincerity and genuine heart that this business extends. We would highly recommend Joyce to others in a heartbeat, and would be happy to work with her again in future home projects. Thank you so much to Joyce and the team at ChengYi for helping us build a home of not only our dreams, but also of effort, that we sincerely appreciate! (:

One of best IDs in Singapore

Reviewed by APTT・Submitted 14 Nov 2023・ Project completed Aug 2023・Designer Joyce Ang

We interviewed many IDs when we embarked on the extensive renovation project of our resale 5-bedroom HDB in Punggol. We settled on Joyce Ang of Chengyi because we felt she was the ID who best understood our requirements. In addition to being a great designer, Joyce has a great personality and is extremely easy to communicate with. Her attention to detail, responsiveness, and commitment to helping us solve problems set her apart. She often went above and beyond to address and solve issues that came out in both the design and renovation phases. Although an accomplished and experienced designer, Joyce is very open-minded in accepting our ideas. She is non-confrontational and would patiently tell us why she would object to a proposal/suggestion, often citing the practical implications instead of just her personal opinion or preferences. And if we insisted on the idea, she would embrace it and work with us to make that happen. Ultimately, and to our pleasant surprise, our project was completed on time and within budget. And most importantly, we are incredibly pleased with how everything turns out. Joyce is probably one of the best all-around Interior designers in the business. She is intelligent, creative, dedicated, responsive, and excellent in all aspects of her work. We highly recommend Joyce for your renovation project.
