We were aiming for a Japandi-style home, and the final result exceeded our expectations. The woodworks and vinyl flooring were especially well-executed. The final result is clean, calm, and cohesive, exactly the look we were hoping for. What really stood out was how Jeffrey went the extra mile beyond just design and renovation. We have engaged Wayne Wong from D5 Studio Image to renovate our 4-room BTO flat and we are greatly satisfied with the end result. From the get go, we knew we wanted a Muji-Japandi style home and tried to reach out to a total of 6 interior designers with qanvast and even went to the hangout. From all the engagements, Wayne stood out the most due to his meticulous attention to detail and thorough research, even going beyond to address casual remarks or queries that I made. I believe for a lot of first time homeowners, the biggest fear is the before sale and after sale service difference, but I can reassure you that Wayne put in all his heart and soul throughout the whole project. He is very friendly and approachable, and accommodated to dealing with the changes that we requested even after the sign off. D5 studio image is well known for their Japanese style design portfolio and Wayne has very good design sense. It was reassuring to know that he has a team behind him for additional support when problem solving the issues faced in our renovation. For our house, the biggest challenge was the structural beam in the centre that cannot be removed. We were clueless and frustrated about what to do with the wall and design such that the space is utilised practically and aesthetically. Wayne actually came up with several good proposals and constantly checked in with our expectations before retouching his proposed ideas. He was very patient throughout the process. We eventually settled to have a dry pantry there which also act as a separation between the dining room and living room. No regrets as we have received plenty of compliments from our family and friends about how well done the dry pantry space was! We also wanted a smart home and Wayne even helped us to research for a smart home company that are known for their experience in incorporating lights, blinds and curtains into the smart system. What we appreciated with Wayne’s dedication and thoroughness was that throughout the smart home installation process, Wayne helped to coordinate with the vendor so we don’t need to worry about anything other than small inquiries and small updates that require our approval. Throughout the whole renovation, Wayne kept us in the loop without bugging us constantly, which was a relief. We trusted him enough to let him handle things on-site supervision without us needing to be there in person all the time. I wholeheartedly recommend Wayne to anyone seeking a genuine, hardworking, and responsible interior designer who serves with heart for his clients.

Had a really positive and stress free renovation of our new home done with D5 Studio. ID Jeffrey has been very responsive, responsible and an enjoyable person to work with. His hands on approach and superb coordination has given us the assurance that all things are in control. He is forward thinking and understands the design concepts we are looking for and shortlisted some recommended materials that suits which really helped a lot. We are glad that the first reno in our lives was a smooth sailing one. Very satisfied and would recommend to anyone who is looking for an ID!

My fiancée and I were very fortunate to have met Wayne Wong and Andrew Ching from D5 Studio Image in Aug 2023. We have engaged them for renovation works that began on Nov 2023 and the renovation is in the final handover phase as I type this. We needed to renovate a 5-room HDB flat that TOP in 1998. The last known renovation was done by its first owner. We are the 2nd owner and we have stayed in the unit since 2004. These are our key considerations: (1) Make the unit feels more cosy and brighter, (2) complete revamp of both toilets and kitchen, (3) redo some wardrobes and carpentry, (4) erect a new study room. We have met IDs from other firms and we observed that other IDs from other firms asked very superficial triage questions which led to a question 'What is your budget?'. While we understand there is commercial interest involved, the atmosphere tend to become awkward after that question. The conversation is difficult to go on as it is just us telling other IDs what we want, and other IDs simply obliged without any inputs. First Meet up with D5 Studio Image However, our first meeting with Wayne and Andrew was a positive experience. After understanding our needs and the demographic of household members, they gave improvement concepts from an ergonomic perspective and potential pitfalls in our original ideas, especially since we have an elderly at home. Wayne and Andrew are very particular on safety to our home and they explained their rational. Firstly, they are very insistent that only 'plexi-glass' with higher safety rating should be used for all our glass partition panels, and they won't compromise on this aspect. Secondly, they highly recommended that electrical re-wiring must be done as the flat is more than 20 year old. They saw the photos of the unit and floorplan, and they immediately know what works and colour combination could be done to redesign the unit to our needs. One of their priority is to brighten up the place using as much natural light as possible, and came up with good ideas (which we didn't hear from other IDs) off the cuff, which shows their depth of experience. We spent 90 minutes or more during in our first meeting with Wayne and Andrew. We ended our meeting close to 8:30pm. The session was engaging, refreshing and there were constant bouncing of ideas with laughter. They have advised against our unsound concepts and ideas. It was a very pleasant session. After we left their office in Mid-view city, fiancée and I sat in my car and we decided unanimously that we must talk to D5 Image Studio again. We have more or less decided to engage them for the renovation then. Positive rapport and constant communication After we signed a contract with D5 Studio image, we received very good 3D rendering images that gave us previews what to expect. We like it on first sight, and my family members were also excited. Shortly after, we went to tiling shops to choose suitable tiles for toilets, kitchen and service yard. Wayne chose a few type of tiles for our considerations, and he want us to consider the roughness of the tiles for different areas, the ease of cleaning and how the colour of the tiles would blend well with colour of carpentry, wall paint and other finishings. He obtained tile samples for us to bring home, feel it and obtain consensus from family members. There was a minor hiccup after our toilet tiles were chosen. Wayne informed that tile shop only have exact number of tiles needed to complete the works but they do not have extra tiles in stock and he is not comfortable with this. He explained that it is wise to buy tiles with some spares as tiler might spoil some tiles during works or some tiles might be broken on arrival. Due to this, we met up with Wayne to select other tiles that have sufficient stock. The purchase of spare tiles and spending extra time to meet up eats into his time and profit margin but smoothness of project delivery is his priority. After work commenced, Wayne gave picture or video update via WhatsApp almost daily. These regular updates were very assuring. He would also video call me to give updates, and was very transparency on potential issues he spotted during the works. He is very responsive, would return your calls, and reply your WhatsApp messages. He also gave us heads-up that he would be overseas for a certain period and assured me he would respond to my queries while overseas, and he continued to give updates while he was overseas. Beyond his duty and swift rectification of works Wayne and his team were willing to assist to shift existing furniture within the house regularly to facilitate works. This helped us saved on substantial storage fees with storage providers. During the works, Wayne discovered there were oversights in measurements at certain areas that resulted in additional costs incurred but Wayne absorbed these additional costs and rectify the oversight. There was once Wayne discovered that wrong laminate colour were used by contractor, he immediately informed me and requested for my understanding to rectify the mistakes. Willing to accommodate last minute request and changes As I couldn't make up my mind on powerpoint placement and miscomm between fiancée on certain powerpoint placements, some powerpoint placement changes have to be made. Such changes were accommodated by Wayne with no complaints despite it is my mistake. These placement changes may seem minor but it may involves drilling, and painting fixes which requires manpower resources. Positive Feedback from Neighbours and Windows Blinds Installer My immediate neighbours have informed me that my unit has contrator 'working every day' unlike their personal experience. It is quite impressive that Wayne managed to ensure work is continuously done during year-end festive periods. We have separately engaged Windows Blinds installer to install blinds in place of curtains. The installer surveyed the unit and praised that the ID has experience because the ID has the foresight to leave a sufficient gap between the wardrobe door and the adjacent wall. This gap is crucial for curtain or blinds rail installation otherwise the wardrobe door cannot be swung opened fully, which the installer had experienced many times when he did blinds installation for other homes. Leap of Faith and words of advice Choosing an ID is a leap of faith. We are also concerned whether there will be a change of attitude pre-sales and post-sales. We heard horrible stories from family and friends on their IDs but surprisingly our renovation journey has been largely smooth and painless, mostly attributed to Wayne's patience and professionalism. I treated our ID as a partner in renovation and respect their views and professional advice. Some delays and hiccups in reno project is inevitable and expected, take it in stride and explore with your ID how best to move the project forward. I prefer quality of work rather than hasty work and compromise on quality. Be clear in your expectations, communicate often but don't hound your ID unnecessarily. Expect mistakes to be made, either by you or ID or contractor. The key is whether you reach a swift and amicable resolution with your ID. I personally see D5 Studio Image not as an ID Firm, but an ID Consultant. I would definitely look for Wayne Wong for future renovation works and strongly recommend Wayne to friends and relatives. Design and Aesthetic Sense We like their recommendation on wall painting colours, lighting placement, and carpentry laminate colours to match our existing flooring colour to make our unit brighter and cosier Quality and Workmanship Wayne and Andrew are absolutely ID professionals! We could tell that the materials used in carpentry are of higher quality. And we value D5 Studio Image's principles that safety is paramount and they are not willing to compromise to use inferior glass material in their reno works. Post Renovation Service We are at final handover phase right now. We are very pleased with what we have seen so far. Judging from positive experience we had and other positive reviews posted on Qanvast, we have faith that we will receive quality post-renovation assistance should the need arise.

Update: Both Jason LEE and Andrew came down to my house to help solve my previous ID's issues and mistakes, gave me proper explanation and were very empathetic about my issue and we came to a resolution that we were both comfortable with. Without them I think I would be living in so much disdain and anger, so thank you both for taking the time down to settle my concerns and I would say they are really passionate about what they do and they are determined to make things right. I would say I'm very pleased with the service recovery and they are very experienced with what they do, I now believe one black sheep does not mean the entire herd is terrible, and I would very much give them another shot in future. Shawn is very practical with his suggestions and noted clearly what our preferences were. He always followed through with what was discussed, provided timely updates. He's also been very patient with answering all questions. Renovations proceeded largely as planned according to projected timelines. I'm writing this review to share my amazing renovation experience, at same time take this opportunity to express my gratitude to my ID who have done up my house. Having read or heard so many horror stories on bad renovation experiences and reno regrets, I'm glad my first renovation experience has been a really memorable and pleasant one. Instead of a stressful renovation process, it has been a wonderful learning journey for me. All thanks to my IDs, Andrew Ching and Jason Lee from D5 Studio Image. Background: I came to know Andrew through previous owner of the 5yrs resale BTO which I've purchased. Part of the reason I purchased the unit was becos of the unique design of the house and seamless workmanship of the carpentary. Despite it being renovated more than 5 years ago, the condition of the carpentary remains in tip-top condition. With the intention to keep existing design concept of the house, at same time incorporate additional storage solutions and personal preference to cater for my living needs, I decided to engage back the same ID who done up the house. With zero knowledge in renovation, I started my research journey from social media platforms like Qanvast, Reno Forums, YouTube videos etc. While having some ideas on my mind, I'm filled with 101 questions (which sometimes can be quite silly *laughs* ). Nevertheless, Andrew and Jason were always patience in explaining the rationale and answering to them. They tried to suggest alternatives to expand my options, and will not hesitate to share additional insights from past experiences, giving their honest opinions on the feasibility and executions. No unnecessary recommendations or hard selling, never had I felt pressurised at all. There was one occasion where I seek their advices on smart switches installation, they were able to give good advices, even the vendor who have worked with many other IDs commented "Your ID is good and really know their work well". Prior to my renovation, I've came across common comments from friends past renovation experiences about their IDs over promised but under delivered, fortunately I never had that issue with Andrew and Jason. My renovation took quite a while to complete becos I was flicker-minded and always have items to add on at a later stage close to completion, however Andrew still try his best to accommodate my troublesome requests. Minor hiccups along the way were also resolved in a breeze. Whenever I'm undecisive or raised any concerns, Andrew always gave me the peace of mind "Dun worry, leave it to me, I'll settle for you". Design and Aesthetic Sense: Instead of using a generic design, they work around to understand my living habits and needs before giving practical useful advises and suggestions while keeping cost efficient. Despite the challenge of limited space of a 3-room unit, Andrew still got his way out to match most of the requirements. Many times, the design turns out to be unique and personalized which is the main objective of engaging an interior designer. What amazed me was some of the designs they suggested were not only functional, can be small change yet giving big impact to overall aesthetic sense. The design and colors suggested were well planned and cohesive, overall vibe is so welcoming and comfortable, exceeded my initial expectation. I've received many comments from friends, family and even delivery personnels saying the design of the house being unique, different from the usual HDB they've seem. Some even took photos and videos as references for their future renovation ideas. Quality & Workmanship: I've personally been on site few times to observe the installation process of carpentary and electrical works, and find their men really meticulous in small little details such as making sure the cupboards are level, no gaps etc. So far the materials that was used are also of higher grade that do not compromised overall quality. Electrical wires which bothered me most were neatly concealed at appropriate places. They also did a thorough chemical clean up and touch up to ensure all in order before handing over the house. On an occasion, Jason even took initiative to tell his men to seal the gap between floor and carpentary with silicon to protect the edges from getting wet during cleaning, something that never come across my mind which I felt that was really thoughtful. Post Renovation Service: Despite the renovation job has been complered, whenever I come across any issues in the house, Andrew will always be there to assist. There was once I encountered some leakage problem in the bathroom, Jason came to check and it turned out to be the damaged water spray pipe. He even went the extra mile to help replaced a new one. They are also generously in sharing tips and giving advices on how to take proper care and maintenance not only for the work and carpentary done by them, but also good living habits from their past experiences. They are always responsive and prompt in their replies, even during weekends/public holidays and late nights which was an excellent post renovation service that gives me the assurance and peace of mind. Really commendable on the ownership they take in their work. Value for Money Considering the fair bit of customised carpentry, multiple reworks and rewiring of the electrical works, I think the amount spent was justifiable. Items done were mostly according to my requests, and Andrew will hold me back from doing things that are not so practical. Ultimately it is the final outcome that matters which turns out really impressive. Highly recommend anyone who is looking into renovation to check out D5 Studio Image, specifically Andrew and Jason Lee. I'll not hesitate to engage them again for my future renovations. @Andrew and Jason, if you are reading this review, my deepest appreciation for turning my house into such impressive bespoke personalised home which I've always dream of. We are very grateful and pleased to work with Deonne (our ID specialist) who caters well to our budget and urgency constraints as a newlywed couple. Before this, we actually looked for quotes from other IDs but felt that other renovation companies were either too costly or did not fit our timeline criteria. Our BTO key collection date was delayed, and we would need a place to stay soonest possible as a newlywed couple. We entrust that she will do a great job for our BTO flat renovations as she has done a few renovation projects and is very helpful to give us handy advice to make our flat a more spacious yet practical home. Even during her busiest schedule, she even patiently assisted in coordinating and choosing the laminates and design to speed up the processes of renovation works. The overall renovation fits our minimalist theme, the follow-up processes are smooth, and we are happy that we can move with ease. Keep up the awesome work, Deonne! Highly recommend Dave Wee from D5 Studio Image. Dave is very knowledgeable in the practical aspects of the design and doesn't just focus on the aesthetics. We spoke to 5 different firms and decided on Dave because he listened to our ideas and came up with a design that resonates most closely to what we wanted. In addition he was also not afraid to share what he thought was not feasible in our ideas. It was when the project started that his experience really showed. He was quick to respond to adjustments however minor and not commercial at all with fees. I do not see this working out unless the ID has excellent project management skills and a strong relationship with contractors who are responsive to his requests. From a cost perspective, it gives me great comfort knowing that I am able to have the flexibility of minor adjustments after checking the finished work. Overall, Dave is patient and very responsible. I am lucky to have his support.

Had a very smooth and pleasant reno process with Shawn from D5 Studio! From the beginning, we were very blur in the whole reno process. I didn’t really have an idea of what I want, except that to match the woody and muji theme. Shawn was very patient with us. He listens to our requirements and also given feedbacks based on his experience - good balance of aesthetics and practicality. When the reno starts, we basically leave everything to him. Even for the choosing of vinyl, we leave it to him to shortlist for us. Shawn will constantly update us on the reno process and we felt really at ease to leave the reno to him! We only pop by the house once every 2 weeks. The reno process was very smooth. He is very very fast in his response, even during weekends and night time. Whenever we have any feedbacks, he will do his best to assist us. Heard of so much reno nightmares, but have none of them at all!
