With only six weeks to spare for their renovation, Steve and Azurra were working on a tight timeline, and needed an efficient interior designer who could work well under pressure.
Qanvast: What made you decide to engage AD. I. WRKS for your renovation?
A: Besides their prompt response, Teck Soon and Widya were very friendly and positive. As our work can get quite stressful, we wanted a designer who could approach the renovation process with a cheerful disposition as renovating can add on to that stress.
Unlike some of the other interior designers who looked like they were having a hard time coming up with a proposal that kept to our budget, they were confident that they could accommodate our requests.
Qanvast: How did their designs stand out from the rest?
A: The designs they proposed really showed their attention to detail. They even came up with a variety of designs for us to choose from. This was very refreshing.
Qanvast: What was your brief to Widya and Teck Soon?
A: We wanted a bright home with a minimalist design.
Steve (S): We told them that we wanted a bar top counter and a wine rack - we enjoy drinking so we wanted a special area to drink and relax. We also wanted an open kitchen concept although we weren’t quite sure how we could prevent smells from escaping the kitchen.
Qanvast: How did they address that issue?
S: They suggested putting a glass door so the smells can be contained within the kitchen. When we’re not cooking, we open it up so that it looks like an open kitchen.
Qanvast: What were some other design solutions they proposed?
A: We wanted to include a TV in our master bedroom but there was not enough space to mount the TV on the wall in front of the bed. Widya and Teck Soon proposed mounting it on the wardrobe instead.
Their proposal was very detailed and they even thought about how to manage the wires for the TV so that it wouldn't be as obvious. We really liked this unique idea.
Qanvast: How did you decide on your furnishings?
A: We were very confused about what kind of lighting, curtains or sanitary ware to get, so Widya suggested a few shops and accompanied us to shop for these items. She advised us on the types of lights that we should choose to create different atmospheres around the home.
Qanvast: We love these unique hanging lamps above your dining table!
A: We were shopping with Widya when came across these lights which contained flowers in them, and they were perfect for our dining area. Widya even helped us to speak to the owner and he gave us the crystals he had used to decorate the interior of the light.
Qanvast: So in the end, was AD. I. WRKS able to keep on track for your tight renovation schedule?
A: The condo management had imposed a timeline of a maximum of six weeks for the renovation. Thankfully, Widya and Teck Soon were very understanding and they rescheduled their meetings with their other clients so that they could focus more on our project.
In the end, they managed complete the bulk of the renovation within these six weeks! We really appreciate their commitment to our project.
